I have been debating whether to get another 243 or go with a 6.5 CM and decided on the latter for variety and having more ammo options.

I think I want. tikka for the smooth action and reliability but man there are a lot of options in the T3X series.

To complicate matters I shoot left handed so that does limit
Options as well as availability.

I assumed I would get one of the Lite series (various versions all with 3 round or 3+1 mag) but then I discovered the CTR series that has a 10 round mag and the Super Varment that has a 5 round mag.

Anyone got any to sell or any suggestions?

I have a Tikka 6.5CM that started life as a CTR.

I wasn't a huge fan of the CTR mag system, so I pulled the barreled action, had it chopped to 18", then dropped in a T3 stock with the barrel channel opened up for the larger contour CTR barrel.

It balances like a dream, runs on the "normal" Tikka mags, and is my go to hunting rifle.

May be a nice option if you don't need a light weight gun like the T3 lite.

FWIW, my CTR barrel is a hammer with Hornady 140 ELDMs right out of the factory ammo box.

CTR is a great build starter.

Sounds like the Super Varment. Thicker barrel but in more standard style stock. 5 round capacity.

I went with the Ruger American predator with heavier barrel as well - Different manufacturer but famed F&S writer David Petzal recommended the heavier barrel. Mine is a tack driver and Tikka are higher quality guns overall so I think you will be happy. Look hard at the Hornaday 143g ELD-X. Great round for 6.5 CM

6.5CM (top) that started as a CTR, and it's 22CM twin that I had built (bottom)

Pretty slick. I've got a T3 hunter in 7-08 and I've considered doing something similar, but the factory wood stock is really good quality wood for its price point (prettiest hunting rifle stock I own) and that's held me back. What stock is that, and which size stocks between the 2 rifles? Any photos of your builds in progress?

I wish they made the Super Varment in Lefty.

I guess I could just buy a righty and just have the awkward loading process like I have had to do with my inherited Remington 243 (a righty)

make the switch - I finally made the change to left handed gun with my Ruger American and can't believe I waited so long. I would give up the barrel as opposed to staying with right handed gun.

Yeah I think that's what I will do.
Finding a place that actually has lefty's is tough, much less a place that has a variety of Tikka options to physically hold and see what I like. I like the durability and lack of needing to baby synthetic stocks but like the look and feel of wood.

Yes I can get you build details. Will post on this thread later today.

Both stocks are manners.

22CM was built by West TX Ordinance. Brux barrel.

I bought a Tikka UPR in 6.5sneedmore and it stacks rounds. Bolt is smoothest I've ever used.

I bought a Tac A1 chassis for it and will be selling the UPR stock soon if anyone is interested. Username at gmail.

Both stocks are Manners EHT. Top rifle in the photo (6.5CM) has a shorter LOP, but both stocks are the EHT mold from Manners with an extra front stud.

6.5CM is stock Tikka CTR barreled action, using T3 bottom metal, mags, and Tikka trigger.

22CM is stock Tikka action, Brux #3 barrel, T3 bottom metal, mags, and Tikka trigger. WTO built this gun for the 80 ELDM, and their stock bedding work, barrel work, and cerakote is beautiful done. Would have them build for me again. I provided all parts, they turned it around.

Both guns have TBAC can over breaks and get shot suppressed with a 7" TBAC Ultra.

Optics are identical. Athlon Helos BTR GEN2
2-12x42 in Sportsmatch rings.

The 6.5CM barrel from Tikka is silly accurate for a factory tube. Same for the Brux on the 22CM. Chose Brux and their #3 contour bc of how close it comes to the factory CTR contour. That "bull sporter" is a great barrel weight if you don't need a light gun for packing in the hills.
