In prepping for the upcoming football season, what do you use to stay cool outdoors? Used a Coolify 3 last season, wasn't impressed. Looking at Eddie Bauer's Trailcool cooling clava. Any recs? Full disclosure, history of both heat exhaustion and heat stroke, so zero heat tolerance.

Hard to beat the laws of thermodynamics. That said, the Columbia omnifreeze sun hoodies are the first ones I've worn that actually felt cooler than a regular fishing shirt. Not sure they come in maroon but you could get white

Wear open toed shoes. Your body vents heat through your feet and hands

Avoid games when the temperature is in the 90s. And the 80s with your heat stroke in the past.
My kid would need to be playing for me to go to a game in the 90s.

Sit in the top 8 rows of the third deck. In the shade.

September day games at Kyle field are a crime against humanity. I no longer go to any home game before October 15th, that starts before 6 pm.

But I also spend all summer outdoors in the extreme heat. The most important thing for me is a wide brimmed, light colored, vented Aussie style breezer hat. I also wear lightweight hiking pants, and lightweight button up long sleeve fishing shirts.

And lots of cold water and occasionally something cold with electrolytes like a Gatorade.

How's your health? Weight? Eating/drinking habits?

Hard to enjoy the outdoors, even if sitting in Kyle, if there's an extra 25-50 that need to come off. No cool tech can replace health.

I live in Phoenix and play golf 3 or 4 days a week even in the summer. Besides hydrating, a big hat and long sleeves I put 2 cooling towels in a zip lock with a little water in the freezer over night and then wrap one and then the other around my neck and I'm good. I'm 68 and my friends do the same and good to go.

Health is great. My doc says if everyone had my lab results from my annual checkups, he'd be out of business. Eat very clean, only drink 1 cup of coffee in the morning and water rest of the day. Female, so weight is 125.

That's awesome. Well done.

Since that's a non issue, I'm not sure on the heat sensitivity.

I've known folks that use ice packs on the back of the neck, arm pits, etc.

Omnicool gear shirts and shorts , cooling towels around the neck (keep them in the cooler until ready to use) Battery powered fan, cold water before during and after the game.

Bad idea. I had seats up there and can confirm that you are closer to the sun. Also, looking down at flyover is not the same.

You need to be outside daily in short spurts in the high temps to help acclimatize a bit. 20-30 minutes not doing anything strenuous each day. After a couple of weeks your body can tolerate it better.

I've also had heat issues before incl. heat stroke once, and that's really the only way.

You also just have to know when not to do something too to avoid having issues.

I have similar heat problems. Take a look at the Ranvoo icemax. Its a collar that blows cold air on your face and down your shirt. Not too expensive and runs for several hours on a charge

I am 72, retired, but I do a lot of stuff outdoors. Worked outside most of the weekend. I wear Arctic Cool tshirts and wear shorts or loose fitting pants, depending on what I am doing. I wear white when working outside. Those who wear dark colors outside in the summer are their own worst enemy.

Due to some unforeseen circumstances, a fence I was going to build will now have to be built this summer, rather than last spring. I think I will need to set 163 posts and am thinking about doing it at night to avoid the sun and heat, lol.

Others have mentioned hydrating and I agree. I drink 8 to 10 bottles of water when it is hot like it is now, along with other fluids (no alcohol).

I wouldn't go to any day game in August or September and possibly early October. If your wardrobe is maroon with white numbers/lettering, buy something white with maroon numbers/lettering. No bevel if you can help it. Good luck!
