Just had some landscaping done two weeks ago. Japanese Maple I believe. Any suggestions on what I need to do? Thanks

Placement is too close to the house.

Ok. Is that what is causing the leafs to turn yellow?

Most likely:

1. Too much sun.
2. Not enough water.
3. Too much water, if your soil is heavy clay.
4. Transplant shock.

Without knowing your location, your soil type, and how you take care of it, it is impossible to narrow down any further.

Thank you! So probably no fungus or bugs that I need to spray for? Watered 3 times a week. Mostly shade. Just keep an eye on it?

Also pull the stake and green tape off now to avoid girdling in the near future

3 times a week and gutter downspout that close-decent probability too wet. Check root ball-moist but not wet is typically my recommendation to homeowners.
As C indicated-tough to diagnose without more details.

Watering three times a week - or essentially every other day - is IMO too often, so I would agree with the above. But if your JM grew up in a nursery where it was partially shaded and then planted in a place where it is blasted with full sun all day, it may well have a tough time adapting. Nothing much you can do about the latter, but you might consider pulling back on the watering a bit. Yes, I know that they do well in areas where they get lots of rain, but the hole that was dug for it will most likely hold water for longer than is beneficial.

Mine looked like that after first planting it. By the next year it was looking great. I bet it is just transplant shock.

Another thing to keep in mind is how it was transported to the job site. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a landscape truck or trailer on a city street or highway without a tarp and the plants getting hammered by the wind.

Also make sure it is protected from afternoon/evening summer sun.

If it was just recently planted which it sounds like then I would guess it is a combination of transport(wind) and transplant shock. Spring is not a great time to plant trees. Usually Fall is best.

Could be too much mulch around the base. Try to remove the mulch from touching the tree trunk.

If it were summer, I'd say the leaves were getting "burned". The Japanese msples don't seem to like direct sun. However, with it being this early in spring, and the fact that it was planted a few weeks back, I'll agree with a previous poster-leaf damage from high-speed transport.

The leaves were probably pretty new/tender, 3 weeks ago, and dragging the tree to your home at a speed of 55-75 mph probably did some damage. Just my two cents…..
