We all lost it watching this video when we saw it last week. We now make that stabbing gesture all the time, especially my youngest son.

My high-school football coach told a very graphic pre game pump up story about this being the best way to stop a dog fight and that that's what we were going to do to the "bulldogs" we were about to go play.

Personally I think a swift kick to the nutz would have been more effective

That's what I was thinking while watching the video. Some good hard kicks to the ribs would have been in order too.

Granny Bott had two sister German shepherds who wanted to throw hands regularly. She was not in the backyard and they went after it. My uncle tried to break them up with getting between them and of course got bit pretty good.

Granny comes out and said to uncle get the hell out of the way and she hosed those dogs down like she had did it before. After they were broken up she looked at my uncle and siad "that's how you do it". Walked back inside

That probably isn't going to help at a dog park.

Nope but granny didn't do dog parks. I don't either. They are just a fight waiting to happen.

Dog Parks

Kick the **** out of the big dog right in it's ribcage. It will let go and if it dies it dies.

You'd think kicking a dog in the side would work, but often it does not, and you might be eating a bill to sew your calf back on. Not enough context in the video to see what happened. Looked like a GS finishing a fight. It's good not to own a dog you can't control if you are going to the gen-pop of the dog park. I've only been able to stop fights by having two physically capable people restrain both animals. I've had to do it in our own house, and while I don't care about getting bitten and lacerated, I understand not everyone shares that zeal for stopping a dog fight. If they weren't mine, I sure as hell wouldn't.

My solution is not to have the fight to begin with which probably means just skipping the dog park.

I used to think that would work. Nope, kicked the heck out of an unnamed, loved or hated breed of dog that was latched on & tearing up another dog. Kicked it in the ribs over & over, didn't phase it one bit. Went on to kicking it in the neck/head & it finally noticed me & eventually let go. I was just about to go get a pipe or gun when it quit.

Pull up the rear legs of the aggressor dog like a wheel barrel and pull back.. This disrupts the dogs balance and it will let go.

I had to do this years ago when a mixed breed 30 pound dog was about to kill a 15 pound mini dachshund. Took a running start and kicked it in the side of the ribs as hard as I could. Dog went about 3 foot in the air and about 5 foot backwards. Pretty sure i broke some of its ribs but it turned loose but about broke my foot doing it. No way I would try this on a pit bull.

He's practiced that move at home. No way that was his first carry of the season. He hit the one hole fast.

Tightly grab the skin where their rear leg meets their stomach and pull up. Works every time on bone headed GSPs that won't release a bird.

I rented access to a private lake in east Texas from a teasip who was part of a well known Tyler oil family. He had a horrible looking large scar on his left forearm. After I got to know him I finally asked him what happened to his arm? He tells me his dogs were fighting one night so he grabbed a shotgun, went outside and fired a shot over them. That didn't work so he began to poke and pry them with the butt of the stock..... Shotgun was an auto and he didn't click the safety. One of the dogs hit the trigger and the muzzle blast ripped his arm and side. Lucky he still had an arm and his life.
