replacing the tip isn't hard at all. It's a question of which tip do you buy. YOu can go to academy and get the cheapy basic tip that comes with glue. or you can go online and buy more expensive supposedly better quality tips.
I've just used the academy tips and been just fine with them. On the very first rod I bought on my own from BPS catalog back in '91 I have probably put 2-3 academy tips on there over the years. Still catches fish just fine
now if you're trying to sell, I don't know but I'd put that out there and adjust your price accordingly. If no luck selling rods (which is like selling guns IMO!!!) then maybe donate to boys/girls club, youth home, etc
