Anyone have consistent success with any particular call over another?

I'm using my new Hellcat Pro this weekend for the first time and called a couple in this morning using the pup distress but wasn't able to get a shot at either.

Just curious if anyone here has had success with anything specific. First time of many to come for me

this time of year, pup, piglet, and fawn in distress usually work well. Have to rhinl about what's most available in the area you are calling. I typically stay away from rabbit sounds because everyone with a call uses them.

I have some custom sound files. One is an infant crying. It's scary how well it calls in coyotes.

I've called in more animals with the distressed house cat than any other.

Birds too. Woodpecker distress etc. That will call in bobcats as well but they come in much slower so the set takes forever.

Get a stuffed animal or one of the remote floppy tails so they have something they see. If they still hanging up gonna have to have something for them to smell as well.

Alternately get a big bag of cheap dog food from feed store. "Corn" a big wide open field like you do for deer. They will come back for weeks to check. Spread it wide and thin make em hunt for it. Then start using coyote challenge calls etc.

The Tony Tebbe sound files are legit.

I was thinking about grabbing an electronic caller at basspro shop today. Interested if anyone has positive or negative reviews. In stock in the Spring store, looks like they have:

Hunters Specialties Johnny Stewart Executioner: $100
Foxpro Patriot: $130
Lucky Duck Rebel: $160
Foxpro Prowler: $200
Foxpro Hellcat: $270
Lucky Duck Lucky Riot: $350
Foxpro Hellcat Pro: $400
Foxpro xWave: $550
Foxpro x24: $550
Foxpro Shockwave: $550
Lucky Duck Roughneck: $550

I'm thinking the Patriot is a good starting point for me entering this market, since the cheapest one from Hunters Specialties has some poor reviews..

How far away are you putting the speaker? Only used one once and it drove me insane. I couldn't stand to listen to that **** for multiple hours.

I would never buy a game call again.

Why?

Bluetooth speakers can play those calls. Easy to find waterproof speakers with great rechargeable batteries that can be used for game calls or rocking out while you grill

but isn't bluetooth range from an app on your phone to a speaker typically only 30-100 feet? I would think most people hunting predators are going to want to set up 100+ yards away.

Problem I've found with trying to use a Bluetooth speaker is finding a decent app with calls. Most calls I've found aren't great. So any app suggestions would be welcome!!!

Bluetooth 5.0, offers a maximum theoretical range of up to 800 feet (240 meters) in ideal conditions, but real-world range is often shorter due to obstacles and interference.

I've never set a call that far away. During daylight, maybe 20 - 30 yards. At night, I sometimes set it right on the roof of the UTV.

I've set them 50 yards away... a foxpro something or another that cost an arm and a leg. They work if there's something in range.

I tried this last weekend and it did not go well. Bought a new bt speaker from walmart..

set it out in the fringe of some brush just outside of some thick woods where I get pictures of coyotes all the time, drove about 50 yards away and sat in the back of my truck trying to call in the coyotes with a free app on my phone. 1) i don't think this speaker is loud enough and 2) despite a clear path line of sight from my phone to the speaker, it kept getting disconnected and the damn speaker says, "NOW CONNECTED" every time it reconnects. lol..

The "Now Connected" sound is a new call for the younger generations of coyotes. "Bluetooth Connected" is another good one to try.
