Ok I have 2 living pics and 1 dead pics for you to view and make a guess. I'll load up the jaw pics tomorrow so we can discuss. Location is Frio County

Side note for the story, have never seen this deer on camera (this year nor any year) and nobody else had ever seen him live. I was about to shoot a busted up middle aged 8pt when this dude stepped out.

Pics on the hoof looks 4.5, but on the ground based on those antlers I would say 8.5+. I imagine the jaw is almost to the gum.

ttha beat me to it

Here they are, what's the verdict….I'm agreeing with 09 here. By far the oldest deer I have killed

We had a very old guy that was a really nice deer that we never would shoot. We called him " house mooch" cause he always hung around the barns. During rut he would disappear then after rut he would show back up. We knew exactly when he was born and watch him every year. On his 13th year we found him dead not to far from the barns during rut. All his molars were flat. No difference between the lingual crest side vs. gum side on any molars. The old boy still had all his hormones working as he was still fighting for ladies. Was still in fairly decent body shape. I guess he basically was gumming those 20% pellets!
This is a picture of him at 3.5. Native genetics on the ranch. He lived a long happy life though!

High fence Gunny? Super cool to watch a deer from birth to 13 years old!

Yes sir. It was our ranch in the hill country.
We never brought in any deer in. Just used what was there after the fence was built. He had a lot of land to run around in and spread his genes.

We first thought he was deaf. He had a strange curiosity for people. We never fed him by hand or anything but he would do crazy stuff like show up if we were out working or such. That's why we thought maybe he could not hear because he was so docile. So we never would hunt him or let folks shoot him. He ended up one pretty deer and glad we left him alone all those years.

The wife is trying to find a pic she took of him in November of the year right before we found him dead. (2005). His antlers had really regressed and he was really beat up and scarred showing his age….many of his points were broken etc.
Amazingly he was still in hard rut and still trying to do his thing.

Yes sir. Hard to find the set on the ranch. Would fine one side or the other.
My wife found 1 set 1 year right almost together. Like he dropped them just for her.
Our taxidermist has them and he is going to find a cape to mount them for us. He was a special deer to us for many reasons and my bride wanted that done.
