Anybody ever spend much time on this lake ? I seem to remember it was a fairly good bass lake years ago.

Been 20 years since I've been there, but the Easy Button then was water dogs. I'll always remember several outings there with my 'ol fishin' bud. RIP Thad Simmons Class of "88.

When do you plan on going fishing there? Time of year makes a big difference.

C ROC N - No particular time of the year. I haven't fished there in about 25 years, but I was curious about the bass fishing. We had some pretty good top-water action. Also had some decent action fishing in hydrilla patches.

Great bass fishing. I used to own a place butted up to the lake (well, the LCRA easement beside the lake).

On the end near the plant it's a little odd that the water is warm, but it's harmless.

Used to fish it all the time with my dad growing up. Normal bass tactics in the morning. Water dogs on deep grass beds in the afternoon.

Take a cast net and catch all the tilapia you care to clean and eat.

snowaggie - Thanks for the link. When I read about the abundance of tilapia, my first thought was that the lake would produce some giant bass with so much food. I don't know, maybe there's too much bait and it makes the fishing difficult.

I have fished at Fayette reservoir once or twice every spring with a guide named Bob Green for the last several years. We start fishing points with rattle traps where the bass are chasing shad. Then we worm fish at various spots along the shoreline and occasionally on some humps in the middle of the lake. We always catch 30+ fish by noon. The biggest bass I've seen is a 9# and a couple around 6.

I have fished with Bob myself on several occasions. Great guy. Its been a few years since my last time.
He is a retired HPD motorcycle officer if my memory serves me properly.

Yes...just a fantastic lake back in those days. Sounds like it's still great. I recall once going with my bud in his boat. Got to the launch and the Evinrude wouldn't start. Just such a crummy feeling when you're so hyped about an outing. Just as an afterthought we walked out on the pier to "make a few casts". Spent the next 3 hours catching fish after fish. Lost count with the numbers and remember several topping 6 pounds. Probably created a better memory than if we'd had the same outing from the boat.
