I live about an hour from College Station and I'm in town right now. I was planning on picking up some C&J Barbecue to take home for dinner. All the C&J Barbecue locations are closed right now. Is there another good barbecue place in town?

Rudy's if it's open. I liked it better than C&J and J Cody's.

Thanks for the suggestion but I really don't like Rudy's BBQ.

J Cody's and Martins are closed as well. Fargo's went out of business. Outside of Rudy's your only other option is likely going to be What's tha Deal Bbq in Bryan. I haven't had it myself, but have heard from others it's a decent place to get some bbq. Website says they're open 12-6pm on Sundays.

No good BBQ restaurant opens on Sunday. It's biblical.

That said, go to Coopers.

What's tha deal is a solid place. The stuffed potato will make sure you get a nap in that day

It is inconceivable that the Texas A&M area has so little outstanding BBQ. Huge businesses opportunity.

Good bbq is expensive. I know most college kids have more spending money these days, but a $20-30 lunch in a college town is a tough sell.

I ate at Cooper's the other day. The bbq was really good, the beans were friggin awesome. I prefer more tomato base to my sauce but theirs is unique and flavorful. But the beans just make it worth it. I got a half pound of brisket and a water. $16 and the all you can eat beans and bread come with it. Not a bad deal these days.

As an update, she brought Double Daves home for the kids and I had the rest of the picanha that we cooked yesterday.

BTW, that picanha was from Smitty's in Tomball. Turned out pretty good. That was our first purchase from Smitty's.

No, it was just choice.

Unfortunately, that's been the case for a LONG time. Toms sort of masked it with its environment but not so much its food. Other places, like Randy Sims, came and went with varying degrees of quality. My late buddy, who had been in B/CS since starting at A&M in the early '80s, settled on CJs (or C&J, whatever) but I was never down with it.

Hell, Waco has had better BBQ AT TIMES since the '80s than B/CS. Not necessarily now, but every so often.

Anyone ever tried Moe's BBQ out in Somerville. Seems popular with the locals.

Brenham's BBQ selections are legit.
Trump will fix it.
