Howdy, we have a normal, vented fireplace. We want to convert it to one that has the fake logs that burn natural gas. It does have a connection to our gas supply.

Questions:
1. What is the best brand to get?
2. Can you get them with remote light/extinguish feature?
3. Are any accessories required, like the rock wool stuff that makes it appear more real?
4. Is this a DIY or do I need professional install?
5. Where is best place to obtain said setup?

Thanks!!!

We did this one. We absolutely love it. With the push button on off we use it way way more than we ever thought we would. Even if it is just on for a 10 minutes we still have it in and enjoy.

Definitely professional instal. We vented thru the roof. We also opted for the heat dissapator thingy up higher above TV. The light we don't really use as much but seems some people like it. We got the heat rocks etc. Hope that helps.

I will add that I am not a fan of remote control for anything but theTV. Period. So ours has that'll switch on the unit. Flip it on and flip it off.

We are in the middle of the same project. There are a lot of good videos on YouTube that compare different brands of gas logs. We ended up going with Grand Canyon's Lava Burner and Glowfire Logs. Its seems that gas piped into logs is the latest and greatest thing. The real benefit to this system is all of the controls are hidden beneath the burner, so you can have logs and fire that extend the full width of the fireplace.

Over Black Friday/Cyber Monday efireplacestore.com had the best price by far.

I've watched enough setup videos that there doesn't appear to be much to setting up the system. You may want a plumber for gas connections. Here's a video on the setup of the system mentioned above.

I have a chimney fire place converted to propane no chimney fire place. It's very effective in heating up the house. I wouldn't have it any other way.
