Anyone have anything good or bad to say about Yildiz? I've had the go to Remington 870 for 15 years and I've never had an over under so I was looking into one without spending $1000+.
This will be just for dove hunting and the occasion clay pigeons with the friends.

Our gunsmith and shooting instructor recommended Yildez to us. They are Parazzi clones with beautiful wood and wonderful tolerances and for a fraction of the cost. We now own several.

Personally, I think yildiz are a good value. My teens use them on the 4H clays team. They havnt given them any issues whatsoever. We have both over/under and semi auto versions. They've gone through a lot of ammo with them and they have been reliable and had no issues during tournaments. They fit them well. Ours are youth models.

However, be aware these are not expensive guns and, in my opinion, for a long terms thing, there are better options available for fit and finish. I'd probably lean toward a used gun of higher quality myself. We use them for the kids because I don't feel like going through high end guns in case they lose the desire or out grow them. So, in summary, I think they are fine but I think there are nicer options for not much more in the used market. For instance, I picked up a used Ithaca SKB in perfect shape for $800 at a gun show, I prefer it.

And I have killed a ton of birds with our Yildiz O/U.

I use to shoot a significant amount and had a browning 525, until some jack wagons took it. After shooting a semi for a while I wanted to go back to o/u. Had some friends suggest giving the Yildez a try. I bought the 12 ga HPS a little over two years ago and have no regrets. I don't shoot as much as I use to so I'm not worried about wearing it out. I actually shoot better with the Yildez than the 525. Academy has a heck of a sale going right now. Don't think, just do it!

Yildiz are light guns so you feel the recoil. You do not want to develop a flinch due to recoil. Heavier the o/u gun the less felt recoil. At price point go buy a new beretta A300 semi-automatic and shoot away.

Kids can endure the recoil at first. Once they start shooting more move them heavier and more reliable.

Or find a used nicer o/u at that price range.

Stay away from the Stevens o/u. Aluminum receiver so even lighter.

I have one, got it after we got one for my dad to shoot clays with. Great gun for the money.

Have one too in 20g, no issues. My son shoots it more than me and he likes it.

I added a thick recoil pad for my Yildiz for a better fit and to get the recoil manageable. Mine was real stiff at first, but once I opened and closed it many times over many days it is pretty easy to shoot and does well. Not like my Citoris out of the box, but a good shooter in the blind and I am not feeling bad getting mud and water on it.
