I recently picked up an SFAR and threw a DNT Zulus on it for pig hunting. I'm curious if it would be possible to throw a red dot Holosun on the side of the Zulus using the picatinny rail or if I need a dedicated offset mount. Admittedly a newbie when it comes to Holosun and zero'ing requirements. Pic for reference:

You have a digital night vision scope, so it needs an IR illuminator to see at night. That's what that's for. You can add a red dot, but you still need an illuminator mounted somewhere

I would not mount it there; that is not an intuitive location for an offset dot. Get something like this: Arisaka Offset Mount, which has lots of different plates to mount just about any dot.

I run a Badger Ordinance Condition One Scope Mount on my 3 gun rifle that has an offset dot mount attachment. Having your offset at 45-35 degrees offset from the main pic rail is the ideal placement, not 90.

The IR illuminator is on the other side of the scope. This rail highlighted in red is for the version of this scope that includes a range finder, which I don't have.
