Want to build a new AR in 5.56. Looking at a middle of the road type upper. Not PSA cheap, but I also don't need to spend $2k on it. Mostly just for plinking and maybe some hog hunting. I'm sure there are threads on this already, but I struggled to find them and gave up. TIA

When searching for something on Texags, just google it.

I googled "Texags AR builds" and found several.

Buy a BCM upper and call it good. You can pick several barrel lengths, handguard lengths, etc to fit your preferences. They come with a BCG and you'll just add a charging handle. For the price, they are hard to beat.

And don't knock PSA for lower receivers. I have a couple of AR's that I trust my life to built on PSA stripped lowers that I've added my personally preferred peripherals to.

Deals can always be had on Aero precision parts.

Brownells m4a1 socom upper is a favorite of mine but I tend to favor clone-ish builds. Mk 12, mk 18 and m4 block ii etc.

$899 at Brownells. It's a sweet shooter and you will need to pin and weld.

My "go-to" do-all rifle is a 16" BCM upper with the MLOK handguard on a PSA lower, it is a solid rifle.

I like mk18 10.3in they have. Made a 12 inch 6.5G SBR last year. Love how handy it is suppressed.

My go to is usually Aero Precision or Ballistic Advantage.
