A neighbor is offering to sell me his New Holland TN65 tractor. I am not familiar with that line and am wondering if anyone here has any experience with one. Good or bad. Thanks in advance. It's around a 60 hp machine and will be used mainly for augering and shredding.

My father in law has a New Holland and he's not a big fan of it. It's been repaired more often than I can remember, there's always one thing or another wrong with it - and it's almost always something with the electronics or computer. It beeps for everything too and that gets real annoying. When it's working it's a fine tractor if you can look past all the nanny beeps. I'd only get one if it were significantly cheaper than a Kubota, Deere or the other top tier brands.

My Kubota on the other hand has been solid as a rock and abused to all hell. I do really like my Kubota

My neighbor had a New Holland that he bought new from Washington County Tractor a few years ago. After two years of problems, mainly electrical, he traded it in on a Kubota of equal horsepower. He is telling everyone not to get a New Holland they are nothing but problems.

As in all product lines all companies have tractors that are good and some that are not. You can't judge a brand because of problems of one tractor.
I had a Kubota skid steer and a farm tractor at the ranch in Texas. I had nothing but issues with them so I sold them and bought JD. The JD skid steer is great and I love it. However the JD 6430 I got had all kinds of electrical issues similar to the Kubota so the. JD dealer traded it out for a 6615 and it's great.
I now live in the Ozarks and lots of cattle and hay production and ag farming. The two predominant tractors seem to be JD and New Holland. Not many Kubotas. The farmers that have New Hollands swear by them. The farmers that have JD's swear by them. Probably all has to do with the dealers.
My neighbor and his brother have a fairly large ranch and have been farming it a while (they are both in their 60's) and their dad had the farm before them. They both swear strictly on New Hollands. Think they have 4-5 of them.
I think they all build good tractors or they would not still be in business…. but not every model or type will be the best in all brands.
A little basic research on line says the TN65 is a pretty reliable tractor….at least what I read.
Is there a good New Holland dealer near you?

I've got a New Holland TC30 that is smaller and more basic than the one you are looking at. That being said, it's been nothing but a workhorse for me for 10 years. Regular oil changes and maintenance have kept it being very reliable.

My father-in-law runs a New Holland (don't know the model) and has had good luck with it. Not many problems to speak of. He is VERY hard on his equipment.

New Hollands are just blue Cases. Both are made by CNH.

I had a New Holland Workmaster 65 (2012 model). Bought it new. Had it for 6 years and put 750 hours on it. It was great. I don't abuse stuff, though.

Thanks for all the replies. The TN series was Italian from what I have read and the main problem seems to be electrical which is my Achilles heel. Gunny, my local NH dealer's service manager told me he had not heard of that series which is somewhat worrisome but they did a rebuild on a 5600 for my brother that was great, if not somewhat expensive. I may roll the dice as it will only set me back 6k.

We have a New Holland T95 cab, it's been a good tractor with very few problems except when the rats got into it twice…. It stays in a modified shipping container now sealed and full of rat poison these days … Have not had any issues in the last 5-6 years. We don't use it that much to be honest … its probably mad at us and wants to be used more

But remember, rats don't care about the color of your tractor.. once they eat into wiring's your gonna have continued issues until it's fixed properly… these mechanics play hell finding all the issues rats and mice cause. Our friends JD got chewed up, he has had continued issues with it.. they are looking for all the wires that were eaten / snacked on

For a~25 year old 60hp tractor $6k seems like a great deal. Hope it works out for you. Not sure which part of OK you live but I have not had good experience with the NH dealer in Tulsa, albeit I only use them for parts.

I own a Powerstar 75, love it. But the main issues with New hollands are the cables. I stole mine for 27K (4wd, cab, loader, 1500hrs) so replacing cables every so often isn't a huge issue to me.

I do not know but i would find out what platform the TN series came from, if it's a powerstar type tractor, id go all for it, would not hesitate but the workmasters have some major issues. I would avoid a workmaster, and yes New Holland is a blue case. I don't know how far back they go with that but essentially the Workmaster series is the farmall series A and the powerstar is the farmall series C
I live in waco....therefore, I am ready to move elsewhere.

This. And my Case tractor equivalent to the OP ask was bought used in 2003, has over 1,000 hours on it now and has required absolutely nothing of note in terms of repairs outside of tires and water pump which I did myself.

I think good vs bad is going to be tractor dependent. If the used tractor is good now, it should be good later.
