My apologies in advance. I know this isn't the right board, but this board has the most common sense on TexAgs, and I could use some help pointing me in the right direction.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a medical bracelet, necklace, or something like that designed for elderly people to call for help if they don't have their cell phone?

I have a neighbor who is recently widowed, and I have been assisting her with several things. She is physically able to do everything she wants, but now that she is alone, I'm worried about a fall/injury and she not having her cell phone where she can get to it.

I've Googled it, but the information is a bit overwhelming, so I thought I would ask if anyone had a personal recommendation for something they use for a parent, grandparent, etc...

My 80yo MIL was in the same situation - recently widowed and living alone. It turned out the most popular option in her 55+ community was an Apple Watch.

Solved a number of other problems as well. It allows her to figure out where she put her phone by pinging it, tracks her blood pressure, etc.

It wasn't my first thought but once I started looking at it, it made sense.

Apple watch. When I had an incident where my blood pressure dropped so low I passed out; it called 911 and alerted my wife and daughters that my watch had called 911 from this location on Apple maps. It then showed them updates of my location while in the ambulance and in the ER.

Thanks for the suggestion guys. I've never been a smart watch person, so an apple watch didn't even cross my mind. Much appreciated

And get the Apple Watch that can act independently of the phone. I have a lady in my church who fell while outside. Her phone was inside. The phone and watch were too far apart to communicate. The watch showed that it was making a call, I believe, but they never connected. She even tried to call her daughter from the watch - but nothing. After surgery for a broken femur, she upgraded her watch.

The main drawback of the apple watch is they have to be recharged so frequently.

I read that Apple Watch and certain products are out if pacemaker is involved

You can get an Apple Watch from Verizon with a standalone unlimited text and data plan for ~$25/month, device and plan total. I did that for my young kids. Harder to lose or get stolen than a phone, no web browser or games, can limit who their contacts are, and can track their location.

The cheap one lasts a full day. Mine lasts 2 days. Put it on the charger each night at bedtime and now worries.
