Looking for recommendations to use/stay away from for a camera for our front gate.

House is about 1500' away, No AC power at the gate. Lots of mounting options - fence, power pole.

Current is a Spytech game cam that works ok, though the picture quality is only good enough to identify "person" or "vehicle". Somehow the animal shots come out clear but nothing useful for knowing who's at the gate, coming in (we do have an active O&G lease) etc.

On our rural property gate where we had lots of problems, the local game warden put up an Arlo cell camera.
It was camouflaged and he put it on the back side of a telephone pole up high with a ladder, aimed at the road and gate. It was attached to the pole with a lag bolt invisible from the road side.
This was a year ago, but at the time he said Arlo was the best cell camera and he got some good video of the group we were looking for. Turned out to be a local hog dogging group which did have permission from my neighbor but not from me. They managed to run off every deer in the area last year running hog dogs at night and claimed to be looking for lost dogs when trespassing on our place…

1 Vote for Arlo - can't find the camo version you mention but did find ReoLink - those seem pretty good too

I think BarnOwl is out - not quite what I'm after. Seems to be slightly higher quality game came, and I've already got those.

Reolink TrackMix LTE seems to fit the bill pretty well. PTZ camera, Solar, camoflauged (which adds atleast 3 cool points)

The landowner of my lease in west TX has one of the Barn Owl cams that he uses for this very purpose. He has it setup near the entry gate to his property. He told me he has been very happy with it and it does everything he expects. It draws a box around anything that moves into the frame, and the pics he's sent me from it seem to be decent quality. It has dual antennas and he said it always has great reception. He said he has a farmer friend of his that has several of them and uses the instantaneous on demand photo feature to check his automatic cattle watering troughs for water level without having to drive over to check them. I have no personal experience with this cam, just relaying what he told me.

We have an Arlo on our front gate as well and it's excellent. Our hose has Wifi so we have a bunch of Arlo cameras around the house and Arlo Go cameras at the front gate and a couple places where I would put a game cam. The single pane of glass for all my cameras is great and Arlo has been solid for us for years.
