I have no experience with nylon, but I can say that I have absolutely ZERO reason to suspect anything RE sells to be of anything short of excellent. They are lighter and of course they come in a gradient which isn't a thing for glass.
Personally, if I am going with a lens other than glass, then I feel like I like my Maui Jim or Ray Bans because I might as well get plastic or non metal frames to go with it for weight savings. My Mau Jims disappear on my face and I forget I'm wearing them.
I've never had RE in anything other than glass and some of mine are Vietnam Era models. All bayonet temple aviators. They are all heavy, but I don't mind.
One thing that may be of use is that the light transmission varies depending on lens media, not sure if this matter to you. I like the least light transmission polarized lens I can get. I just can't see a reason not to get them if you like the style.
