Has anyone got a recommendation for a WiFi freezer monitor that measures temperature and give you an alert when the temperature gets too high.

I got a freezer with a lot of money worth of meat and the power monitors do no good if a part goes out on freezer like happened to me a couple years ago. Wondering if there is some better technology out their for monitoring temp.

I have 4 YoLink monitors that do that. 2 in freezers in the garage and 2 in freezers in our barn about 600 ft away from the house. They link to a hub that comes with them that is set up in the house. I can monitor through the app and it sends notifications/emails if the temp gets out your preset range. Haven't had any issues with them and obviously would buy again. Amazon has the hub and 2 sensors for $69.99 but they occasionally put them on sale. Easy price to pay for piece of mind.

My wife teaches culinary and utilizes the same for her freezers at the school.

Also have a YoLink, although the breaker for my internet router (where it comes in from street) and freezers are all the same so I'm kind of SOL regardless

+1 for YoLink. Got it off Amazon, was easy to set up and use in the app.

Was headed to a work conference within just a couple months of buying it, and as I'm packing my bags I get an alert to high freezer temp. Sure enough the plug in our garage had tripped. Saved me from coming back to a mess.

Lost my deep freeze when I was at Disneyworld. Made an expensive trip a real expensive trip.

I bought some Govees, but mine were only working on Bluetooth. Well, nobody was home, so no phones nearby. Didn't find out until we got home and the kids went for a popsicle.

I had a wifi monitor, and found out after my chest freezer died that it had disconnected from the wifi. So I had zero notification that there were issues.

I bought this after - not wifi, but it has a digital display that I have on my fridge front and center that shows me temps, along with it having an audible alarm. Maybe one day I'll add wifi back, but so far this has been better for me.

It notifies you if anything is out of order, including loss of power or WiFi. I've been running two over several years with no technical issues and it has saved a freezer full of meat on a couple of occasions. Mainly due to the door becoming ajar somehow.

I also tried a ThermoWorks Node. I love their other products, the Node not so much and don't use it any longer.

So, you put the probe in the freezer and the controller stays on the outside? How does the wire affect the freezer seal?

That is correct. It's a flat cable and I haven't seen it cause any issues. This keeps the electronics and power supply outside of the freezer environment. They've worked very well for me.

Saved us on many things:

Freezer and refrigerator monitoring, water leaks, power outage, aquarium temp, etc. etc.

Ties into IFTTT so you can program it to do whatever you want (call you cell phone, turn on your lights and sound the alarm, etc. etc.).

One time we were leaving town for a long vacation several states away. The freezer monitor went off just as we were about a mile away from the house. Our oldest daughter didn't close the deep freeze door all the way (had something caught in the door). Saved us thousands of dollars from a whole steer we had.

Each monitor was about $30. No monthly fees. Good stuff.

Temp stick works well for us, as long as there is WiFi and you keep up with the batteries.

Freeze a cup of water.
Put a quarter on top and put in freezer.
If there was a problem the quarter will no longer be on top.
At least you will know if you dropped temp....often times it could lose power then come back on and refreeze your now spoiled meat. The quarter would let you know that. Good alert for remote freezers.

I was always curious what yall do when your freezer alarm says the freezer is dead? Go get a new one right quick? Eat a everything? Or it just alerts you that your food is suspect.... cuz cup of water and a quarter will do that.

Most of the time it's a power failure or gfci trip or a door not being closed all the way by a kid. If the freezer is crapping out, all this does is buy you time to throw in ice chests and then get a replacement asap. Either way, it's a warning that wil hopefully eliminate you cleaning out a rotten freezer after a week in TX summer.

One of the best things you can do is make sure the freezer is not on a GFCI circuit. Those things are easily tripped by inductive loads (ie. A freezer motor) even when there is no ground fault.
