Have had the immense pleasure of helping all three of my GFs kiddos catch their first fish in the last month, and they've really found a passion for fishing( which makes me stupendously happy). Even the little guy(4yo, but he is more a 5/6yo size wise... boy is going to be the mountain that rides!) Is starting to get the idea and has been able to land a couple of fish.
Anyway, proud of kiddos aside: I don't know where to take these guys. Most of my haunts around Sabine Pass over the years are too hard for the little one to get in, and there's 5 of us( 4, 11, 14), 6 if their other parents comes( everyone is on good terms and friendly, that's not unrealistic to have happen) so space is an issue as well.
I've taken them on Walter Unphrey's state park pier, and that actually worked pretty well, especially with the railings to keep stubborn little terrorists... I mean uh "kids"... from getting in the water. I know the piers on the galveston seawall exist, and I know seawolf has a pier. I'd be happy for other ideas. Equipment wise I'm set up for anything from a small 30 class trolling rig, to the surf, down to panfish rods, I just have to be conscious of how big the fish are vs how small the kiddos are :-).
Some ofnyall will feel this one: I uttered a phrase I NEVER thought I'd say in my life this weekend.... "damn I'm glad the hardheads showed up".
