I've looked online and there are several types of leaf vacuums. In my perfect world I would own a leaf vacuum that mulches the leaves and puts them directly into a leaf bag and I prefer Stihl equipment. Thanks

I had a Toro one that was solid - the one bit of advise I got when I was buying one is to make sure what you get has a metal impeller. Lots of plastic ones on the market - but the metal ones will last a lot longer

I sold Stihl equipment for a while. I used a few of their shredder vacs (also can be used as a blower) that mulch and bag debris. They work ok. Better on the bigger, lighter leaves. The smaller leaves (live oak, etc) are not bad if they're still off the ground hanging on top of the grass, but once they get a little compacted or wet they're more stubborn. If you rake first then go after it, they work better… but not sure that's much less work than raking and bagging.

This Toro is good, but VERY heavy and a little awkward... TORO

I have the worx one. it works pretty good as long as its not sucking up little sticks. Those can jam it up pretty fast. easy to clear out, but annoying to have to stop and start a bunch.

I have a ton of leaves and tried everything. This has been the best thing I bought to handle the leaves. Blow them into a pile, use a snow shovel, and then mulch them with this Worx Electric Leaf Mulcher. It'll put most of my front and back yard into one bin the city picks up.

I just got the Toro electric leaf blower/vacuum for Christmas and have been very impressed with how well it works.

I've got that one. It was a little unwieldy when vacuuming leaves off of the trampoline through the net door. Solved the problem. Got rid of the trampoline, kept the blower/vac.

You're looking for a leaf or litter vacuum it sounds like, but the entry fee jumps up pretty high pretty quickly.

The DR one is pretty cool because it uses paper bags

Have you considered just getting a set of mulching blades for your mower, and mulching them back into your yard?

I did that, and have LOTS of leaves from a variety of trees. After a few passes, they absolutely disappear. No raking, bagging, or hauling. Plus it improves the soil over time.
Just a thought.

Mulch them. If you have flower beds, mulch blade on mower, bag then and use as mulch year round.

I have one that was a hand me down that is probably 20 years old. Starts first pull every time even though its only used a few times a year. I think its a troybuilt chipper/shredder vacuum.

Selfpropelled but heavy and awkward especially when the bag gets full. Has a zipper on the side and allows for leaves to be dumped into a wheel barrel for the raised beds or to dump into 55gal bags.

I would much rather deal with the pain of bagging mulched leaves than deal with raking and bagging. Highly recommend splurging for a walk behind if you can justify it.

Be prepared: the urge to help neighbors (especially elderly ones) will come on strong.

I have the Toro and it works decent if you are sucking up little piles or going through the flower bed and getting sections of leaves. However, when there are a lot of leaves in fall, I find it easier to rake and bag it up. Also, the small stick thing mentioned already is a pane. Mine generally get through the impeller if they make it but they normally just clog up the end of the suction tube so nothing gets sucked up.
