I'm buying a Mule. Question for OB - where to store it…

I've picked out a 2 seat Kawasaki Mule. Buying it from a friend. It's a vintage workhorse. (Workmule?)

The question is whether I buy a trailer and store it on the trailer under a tarp on my back driveway in Fort Worth, or if I erect a shed or garage for it out at the property.

Seems to me I would rather have it live at the ranch.

So, do you have experience with a shed/UTV garage project? Build one from scratch? Buy a prefab from Costco?

Any wise advice appreciated.

You can keep it at my house, OP.

We bought an Ulrich building 12' X 24' with a garage door on one end. We store the Mule in it along with other stuff that should be donated to the Salvation Army!

Half conex box would be most secure if worried about theft...also rodents can't usually get in...prices aren't bad right now...

What cuz-I-can said. Especially if you're on a lease so you can take it with you if you ever get off the lease. If you own the ranch then buy the material to build your own shed if you're capable. I just built a 40x25 pole barn (3 sides closed in) for my parents for less than half the cost of those pre fab barns you see advertised on the side of the road. Of course labor was free (me).

Speaking from experience, if your shed or container isnt 100% sealed, then rodents will eventually cause you headaches on your electrical system. I do not recommend that route

Good idea.

In the pasture out behind the barn? Where else would you keep a mule?

City folks…

*edit to add, incase the sarcasm isn't clear, this is my envy venting out. I'm REALLY "country" over here with my 1.5 acre ranch, zero turn lawnmower, raised bed garden, and soon to be chicken/duck coop that my wife dreams of…… cough, cough*

We have our Ranger and Jeep in a conex box. Double locked and air tags.

As mentioned, conex box. A 20' one-tripper (new) is ballpark $3500-$4000, these days, delivered. You'll have an extra 6-8' of space left to store a lawn tractor/4-wheeler/feed/tools. Keeps the rodents out, and will keep MOST human "rodents" (thieves) out.

UTV on a trailer, in a Texas city. Don't expect it to last long like that.

Find a used enclosed trailer. Best of both worlds.

Here's a few pics of the old workhorse. Some good memories tied to this mule.

What's a good conex vendor in north Texas?

Any concern with heat in a connex in the Texas summer? Thinking about doing the same while we build a house.

Leave that thing anywhere you want, nobody's stealing that old beat up thing!

Just kidding. Shipping container would be my suggestion. I think it would be a beating to have to haul it back and forth. And then it's just taking up space around your house.

This is the 3rd recommendation for xcalibur I've received. Appreciate it!

I just hauled ours to and from the place last weekend. I was thinking about a conex as well. Biggest PIA for me is we have a single vehicle wide driveway with a 2 car garage against the back property line. I have 2 trailers in the driveway, so I gotta move them both in order to get the gator down the driveway, then put one trailer back, hook up to the other one, load and go. I guess I have more of a trailer problem!

If I could leave it on the trailer and fit it in the garage, I'd do that, but I wouldn't leave it out and on a trailer. It'd just be a matter of time until somebody figured out how to relieve me of both.

If you are concerned, throw a vent in towards the top on a sidewall. We keep our saddles and tack in one without a vent and they've been perfected fine.
