Anyone have experience with these?

Do you actually cut anything? I've heard differing takes on what to actually cut, and how, and when.

We sell lots of these and they are very popular. Nothing to cut and easy to use.

I worked for a couple ranches that used them, both for cattle and goats. One place (owned by a cat lady) decided that after we banded their calves (big stout ones), we needed to run them through the chute a couple weeks later to cut of the now dried up and smelly scrotums. Same with the goats. Not a fun place to work.

Other ranches just turn the calves out to pasture and let nature take its course.

I think it is a good practice to do a couple of relief cuts to allow for drainage, but I don't guess it's 100% necessary.

I'm not particularly a fan but some people like that method.

I've never heard or seen these. We use a regular old band with a spreader tool. Then we let it do its thing. Are these better? Any reason to switch? I've always found the other style to be fine?

I think the "california banding" is typically used on larger calves that the smaller bands won't work on. It's the same idea.

Same concept of course. The California is better for older calves who've got bigger ball sacs and once you get the hang of the tool they are fast. There's a lot of preferences and different opinions out there. Know a lot that still say do it young and quick (i.e., surgical). It's like anything agriculture - ask 100 people and get 100 different answers.

I have a Calicrate Bander & surgical tubing bands for sale.

Great for bigger calves, let the testosterone build up a frame, castrate - then finish on winter rye & oats.
