CMP partners with Tisas is an interesting choice. What say you guys? Interesting or a huge miss.

Price point is at least still on brand.

Tisas is making excellent 1911s.

No doubt the Tisas are good value. I just would have expected a CMP 1911 to at least by US made.

Is a little weird that a Turkish brand will be the new face of CMP, something you would think should be inherently all American.

That quibble aside, who else is already making the A1 style of 1911's at that price point that is American based? I think I have to chalk this up as a pragmatic decision and will leave it at that. I do wonder if CMP approached any of the other companies at least to discuss possible partnerships though.

ETA: Was curious and looked up Springfield and they DO produce an A1 inspired model. Been upgraded to fit modern standards like sights and internals and also around a $1K MSRP tag though. Poor fit for CMP.

Yea your right that a domestic make will not hit the same price point. Unless they went with like the Auto Ordnance 1911A1 but thats still more ~$750, and not as well regarded in terms of quality consistency.

I havent put enough rounds through it to really pass judgement, but I did pick up a Tisas last year, their full size railed model.

Only big gripe is safety detent isnt as positive or firm as other 1911s I've shot.

I've owned budget stuff like rock island, and nicer stuff like springfield and dan wesson, and I've shot nicer stuff like Les Baer, etc.

IMO, The price of Tisas has everything to do with the relationship of the dollar/lira and nothing to do with quality. I'd put them right there with production springfield offerings on finish, fit, and initial quality. Someday I'll get enough rounds through this one to see how it holds up long term, but my first impressions have been pretty positive.

Ah, forgot about AO. I first thought about Rock Island Armory being a fit but remembered they are Phillipines made. What little I know about AO though is from people *****ing about them....so that may say something there.

I wouldn't consider that a quibble. It is the reason I have no interest in it.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with foreign guns. I own a LOT of them. But not this one.
