Have about a 1/3 acre pond. Half a moon with the deepest area close to 18 feet and gradually goes up..

Which fish should I stock?

Prob more for fun versus getting big to eat.

Local place recommended https://baitbarnfisheries.com/stocker_fish.asp?i=4

Hybrid Striped Bass
Coppernose Bluegill or some hybrid bluegill

Thoughts and recommendations? How many of each?

Brand new pond? If so, stock minnows and blue gills to establish the forage base and then add the predator fish about a year later.

Was gonna say minnows and bluegill for a year. Then add largemouth. Make the long term play. I wouldn't put any predator but largemouth in and begin culling them out based on size in year 3. Let cover grow. Supplement feed with crawfish each spring post spawn to help them get their energy back. Mommas will be wore out, they need easy meals.

Pond is 19 years or so but dried down this past year during the drought to almost empty and basically just the minnows survived.

Bait the first year (minnows crawfish). Then hybrid bluegill, Florida Bass, channel catfish. And add some structure while it's dry.

Minnows and bluegill. Put in a few largemouth bass, 1-2 years later. You don't need many. You can put in a bag of 50, or you can put in 8-10 small ones you've caught, elsewhere, and you'll be fine. Won't take them long to multiply in a pond that size. The catfish will muddy things up. I'd avoid intentionally stocking any, unless you just really want them.

I wouldn't put both catfish and bass together in a tank that size. Pick one.

Why not look at the hybrids more closely. I don't think they are as dependent upon a carefully balanced food chain, as they will take to pellets to supplement. If you are doing this for fun fishing, hybrids are about as fun as it can get.

I'm not sure about putting them in a pond that small, though. I would look into it if I were you.

I do not think Hybrids would do well in your size pond in my professional opinion. I think you could get a decent bluegill fishery going if you are willing to be patient. Almost every pond will need harvest, so do not be afraid to keep and eat the fish you catch, whatever species you end up stocking. This will help avoid stunting and allow for the fish to grow bigger

Today, unfortunately, many Americans have good reason to fear that they will be victimized if they are unable to protect themselves. And today, no less than in 1791, the Second Amendment guarantees their right to do so. - Justice Samuel Alito 2022

Bass are fun to catch, but catfish taste 20x better.

Take from that what you will.

If you're going to do bass in that small a pond, you'd better have PLENTY of cover for the baitfish, especially if it tends to vary in depth during the year. Weeds along the edge won't cut it.
