Figured Id post this here since a good amount of people on the OB would have diesel trucks.

I was fixing my daughter's truck (non-diesel) and needed to look at a YouTube video to get some clarification when I came across a video of someone adding ATF fluid to their diesel tank. I want my 2019 F350 to last as long as possible, especially since my wife said it's the last truck I'll be getting.

With that being said how many of yall do this with your truck? Is it an internet myth? Does it work on newer diesel engines?
Not everyone gets the same version of me. One person might tell you I have an amazing beautiful soul. Another might tell you I’m a cold-hearted a$$^ole. Believe them both. I don’t treat people badly. I treat them accordingly - unknown

I've used it in mechanical diesel motors to free up sticky injectors and pumps. I wouldn't use it in your newer electronically controlled high pressure common rail system though.

I wouldn't. I add hot shot's secret to every tank to keep cp4 pump from grenading

No. Not in a modern diesel. Really not even in a not modern diesel. Use any of the suggestions above. It's one of those grandpappy things, like changing oil every 3,000 miles, turning your air cleaner cover upside down, and throttle body spacers.

Add products that are designed for the purpose. Never a good idea to rely on old wives tails when deciding what to dump into the tank to a truck that cost 10x more than grandpas truck and house combined when he came up with the idea.

Nevermind the fact that modern fuels are….modern.

It actually reduces lubricity, so no, dont do it.

If you want an addative that helps increase lubricity and makes diesel more like it used to be, Optilube is what you want.

Marvel Mystery Oil every other tank and Sea Foam in system before hard freezes. Truck and wife's diesel RR gelled up during icepacilypse and would not start until I added SeaFoam and disconnected and cranked the jelly out of fuel line.
