In researching this video, we even found stories of people who have made the trip by kayak.

Great experience for your son. It certainly is a rather unknown international hub. There used to be a coast guard office in Catoosa but not sure if it is still stationed.

Daughter was stationed at Columbus AFB, Mississippi. First time we drove there, we crossed over the Tenn-Tom, and saw huge barges going by like you'd see on the Mississippi. Quite a shock, we had no idea such a thing existed

If you have ever spent much time in Port Aransas you have probably seen the Wharf Cat and Scat Cat.

I've had a place in Port A for a long time. When they first arrived I heard locals talking about them being built in Oklahoma. That didn't make sense to me. Next time I go down I'll try and get it verified.

In the summer of 1969, my dad was transferred to Tulsa. We met fellow Texans from Navasota who were there because their dad was with one of the companies building the port. It has been there a long time now.

I wonder why they don't send the wind turbine blades up there. Has to be cheaper than trucking them from Galveston bay.

Tulsa Airport also used to have, they may still do, the largest cargo planes in the world. Hauling natural gas production equipment to Russia.

I used to work for one of the grain companies that ships grain out of there. I always thought it was funny that we were shipping grain out on barges in Tulsa.

Depending on the size of your boat, technically you can sail from almost anywhere.

The alert pad and the igloos for storing nukes are still there. That's the Tenn-Tom just west of the base

I'm sure some folks on here have been to Jefferson, TX and Caddo Lake.

Once upon a time paddleboats steamed up the Mississippi, veered into the Red River, then veered into Big Cypress Bayou which passed through Caddo before pulling into Jefferson to unload supplies.

Lots of creeks, rivers, and Bayous tie together.
