WTB Cheap 20 Gauge for girlfriend

HOUSTON - Looking to buy cheap 20 gauge (semi auto Preffered) for girlfriend to use duck and dove hunting. New ones start at like 400 it seems but was hoping I could find a used one for $200 or less. Hoping some one may have one just collecting dust.

She has shot skeet but never been hunting and wants to go, but I don't want her to be discouraged by not being able to hold up my 28inch 12 gauge all day.

These opportunities don't come often and you've got a prime one right now to get yourself a sweet 20ga. for the collection. She may or may not be around next season, but if you keep the guns at your house, that 20ga. will be. The Weatherby SA-08 compact would be a nice one that she could handle and one you wouldn't mind having in the safe if it goes awry.

If you want a 20 gauge for a girlfriend, we are going to need to see a picture of the girlfriend first to know whether that is a good deal or if you will need to kick in some cash.

The fit is really important on a shotgun. You are going to be shouldering it multiple times in a hunt. If it isn't properly fit for the individual, it will take more effort to get on target and will be a less fun and successful hunt. So, post up a pic of this lady and we can help you help you.

Hit your local pawn shops and look for a clean REM. 1100. Very common shotgun and lots of them around.
Check Guns International as individuals sell on that site… instead of the inflated prices on Gunbroker.
Or just go get a new 1100 for her/you and you don't have to worry about wear and malfunctions.

I bought a high school girlfriend a youth model cheapo 20 ga and some James Avery ring she wanted for Christmas one year. Took her hunting with me a few days after Christmas and she dropped the ring in the water and never fired a shot out of the shotgun.

We split up a few weeks later LOL

Yeah I killed a few teal right at shooting light that morning & she wasn't ready for them.

I have shot the gun a few times. It does what a shotgun is supposed to do IMO: go bang every time I pull the trigger. Everything outside of that is just luxury

I've never seen a used semi auto for less than 200 regardless of gauge or brand. I'm not a you have to have a $1k plus gun, but I wouldn't just buy the cheapest one you can find. I get that she may not like it and you don't want to be out much money. Maybe try and borrow one from a friend or family member until you know she likes hunting.

Here's my advice: buy yourself a gun. Let her use it. When you're ready to trade her in or vice versa, you still have a 20 ga. If things work out, you still have a 20 ga.
