Went and had a look at this 4-wheeler yesterday. Teenage son has been saving his $ and wants a 4-wheeler. 2wd 350, 2nd owner, bike is sound and has not been abused. Worth $3K?

I have no idea on new pricing today but that seems high for the age. We bought a new 420 rancher 4 wheel drive with nice ramps, electric shift and start for 6,000 in 2017. At the time I remember a 2 wheel drive being 3,800.
Price a new one if you can find one. Would rather have the fuel injected over the old carburetor.
ETA cycle shack north in Conroe has the new Honda recon advertised at 4,800

Excellent atv. Being 2wd and older, id offer less for sure. Its still the smaller physical size which is sought after where as the newer ones are the size of a foreman with less power. I personally would never buy an atv that wasn't 4wd but ive gotten those old 350s stuck and a couple of guys can usually snatch them around enough to get them moving. Not as easy on the bigger ones.

This is just me personally speaking here, but no way in hell would I spend $3k on an almost 20 year old, 2wd, and 250 four wheeler.

Hondas are phenomenal and will last a very long time but I think there has to be something better out there on the market for close to same price… no idea though.

I've bought a few used ATVs and this price doesn't seem that off to me - the problem is someone will pay it. I'd try to get them down to maybe 2600.

I don't have an issue with the age or the lower power - Honda engines are meant to last forever and frankly most ATVs are far overpowered for what is needed.

But the reason I might keep looking is the 2WD. Just a huge functional difference, as I have to engage my 4WD often to get out of a jam.

I'm not too worried about the 2wd, although 4wd would be preferable. Like stated above, those small frame 350's are pretty light, and you can usually (not always) pick them up and get unstuck, esp with the addition of a winch. Plus, for a teenager spending his own $$, maybe he'll be a little more inclined to go around those deep holes. I just dont want to let him overspend on this.

Also, we both drove it and it started and drove as it should, handled fine, no noise, no smoke, brakes tight, etc. The guy bought it at an estate auction, serviced it out, oil/air filters, etc, and put brand new tires on it. But the foot shifter was kind of stiff. Not terrible, but a little stiff. Is that indicative of anything?

Jdpower.com has values for ATVs. I cannot vouch for accuracy and they don't always have all models but it could give you a bargaining chip.

that 4wheeler will last forever. but, i agree that's too much money for a 20 year old 2wd ATV

Thats normal. Pretty much all that way.

I don't think that price is too far off. I paid $2700 for a similar bike that was 2005.

As long as it hasn't been rednecked (snorkel and all the other bs), it will run forever.

That's not unreasonable. 5 years ago it would be $2,000. A new one is in the $6500-8000 depending on features. I sold a 2005 350 4x4 Rancher for $2,500 pre Covid. Wish I still had it.
