I've got an older bow that I'm working on right now and I'm needing to replace the arrow rest and probably put a vibration softener on there. The only problem is I really don't know what the hell I'm doing so trying to figure out what the best value for an arrow rest is because there is a huge range and prices for these things and I really don't want spend $200 if I don't have to

Ps. If anyone has one for sale I'd be willing to do that.

Whisker Biscuit.

Old school but they still get the job done. Easy to install- set it and forget it. Also pretty much bullet proof and will last forever.

No disrespect, and everyone has different preferences, but I detest Whisker Bicuits! While it's true that they are super simple and do a great job of containing your arrow, I had a lot of issues with them mangling abd tearing up my fletching over time, and they introduce some inconsistencies in arrow flight due to the heavy contact with the tail end of the arrow from the fletching zipping through the bristles. I got much better accuracy when I ditched the Biscuit for fall away rests that don't make any contact with the arrow shortly after firing.

I would pick any quality fall away style rest from any of the quality brands. They can be had with arrow containment blades that accomplish the same purpose as the Whisker Biscuit prior to draw. Personally, I'm a fan of the QAD Ultrarest.

Opinions and experiences vary on this as with any piece of gear. Pick any piece of gear, and some will love it, others hate it for various reasons.

I'm using the Hamskea right now and will go back to the QAD Ultra Rest soon. Makes too much noise when I draw for my liking - deer hear it.

Buy a 'new' bow that comes with a very nice rest: https://texags.com/forums/50/topics/3430598

Screaming deal and might negotiate a bit more.

All ive ever shot is whisker biscuit. Yeah in theory it causes excess drag on arrow shaft and fletchings since its in constant contact, but it also holds your arrow in position if you hang your bow on a tree and/or fidget in your stand. I like em.

Yes sir, it does do that, but so does the better fall-away style rests that in my experience produce better, more consistent arrow flight, and thus better arrow groups, are quieter, and don't put excess wear on your fletching.

Your mileage may vary.

Still shooting the biscuit here. It's on an '08 Diamond like mentioned bulletproof. I really don't think it's much of a problem causer. I walk in alot and want stuff to be bombproof so it's going to work.

Another whisker biscuit user here- been shooting with one for years. Never had a fletching get pulled loose. I like the fact that it holds my arrow in place and much, much cheaper than a fallaway rest. Plus, anything mechanical is destined to fail and nothing mechanical about a whisker biscuit.
