Okay, so this is probably a dumb idea inspired by someone who watched Homeward Bound too many times...

and I kinda thought about trying to get tracking dogs to help find my dog, but all of the services are based in DFW and therefore irrationally expensive for a slight shot at finding my pup.

Pup ran away from the boarder's home on Wednesday morning. Someone said that they spotted him on the same street Thursday night, but silence since. (Yes its posted on nextdoor, facebook, everything everywhere, have been checking shelters)

Its about a 2 hour walk from her house to my house...If I took a walk myself, maybe with the other dog some or dragging one of our blankets or something... is there a shot that it would help my mutt find his way to my house? or is that wishful thinking?

Sorry to hear your pup is lost. That's the worst.

I would not think tracking dogs could help at this point. Scent will be all but gone, especially in a residential area.

I think the best thing you can do is be out walking and looking. I don't know about dragging a blanket- that would depend on if your dog can follow a scent, and if that scent can keep from getting diluted on a road/street/sidewalk before your pup happens across it. I suppose it wouldn't hurt, though.

You've done all the things to get the word out. Hopefully the boarder is out helping you walk and drive as much as possible.

yeah he's def not trained for tracking scents which is why I was like this is probably just a wishful thinking idea..but maybe my dog is fancy awesome...and I don't know how long scents last. I just know I read about putting laundry on your porch to help your dog locate a familiar smell

I'm sure it is, but make sure it's on Pawboost, they find and locate lots of lost and found pets.

Hopefully you are successful. If so, get a Whistle. Real time tracking via cell tower. The two times our dogs have gotten out, we found them within minutes of realizing they were gone.

Damn. Sorry for this. For hope I will add that back when I was a kid we had a German Shepherd that was my closest pal. We went on a short vacation and my dad left our shepherd with some friends that were about 5 miles from our farm.
He got out of their yard and they lost him.
They called us and we could not come straight back home for three days. Those three days drove me nuts as a kid worrying. I remember my grandmother mother telling me to pray and trust. I did that. We searched and searched. Very rural with few neighbors. Everybody helped though. Woke up 6 days later and he was out on the back porch. Dirty and hungry but ok.
So I will pray for your buddy's safe return. Have faith.

He's a pretty special little pooch.

My husband just got robbed of $300 by a man claiming to have our dog.

I have his name and humber, he talked about someone named tbaby and one of the guys drives a black mercedes. I have multiple recordings of him with my husband/a call that took place between him and my husband.

Possibly the most ghetto experience of my life.

The number of people trying to scam us through this is incredible, but this was next level.

Guy called me and told me that he saw a couple with my dog and they were trying to sell him by the fiesta on Mykawa and Griggs. Husband went there immediately and called the guy, suddenly the guy was in his car and then the dog was being ransomed for $500. .. which is the reward out for the dog anyway..but then there was a lot of craziness and discomfort locations changing and whatnot, I was in the earbuds on the phone the whole time and recorded a lot of the interactions, but in the end, they scammed him out of $300, claimed to be in a firefight trying to get the dog and asked for more money, husband extricated himself from the situation at that point, and he is home safe, but no dog.

I have his phone number if anyone thinks they can find a home address, I'd like to use that in my police report.

but just so yall know, if this ever happens to you, I've gotten at least 5 different scams from people using google voice numbers trying to get me to give them an activation code to "prove its me" so that they can give the dog up. This is to get your google authentification code.


This guy called me and said he saw other people trying to sell my dog, when my husband showed up, the situation went sideways. I didn't venmo or anything. They also claimed that someone's car got shot trying to retrieve my dog.

I have to say I'm sorry to hear this but appreciate the heads up. I honestly didn't think there were that many ****ty people on the planet to attempt to take advantage of people.

This does not restore my faith in humanity. I hope things get better and I would see if FSGUIDE can hook you up with some info for a police report.

This whole thing pisses me off. I'm sitting here saying "man, I wish a motherf- would call me about my lost dog ….."
