I have a small toy hauler I converted into a bunkhouse. I discovered a leak last time we used it. There is an underbelly rodent liner, so the bottom of the camper isn't easily accessible.

But, I have identified the leak to the flange (or whatever it is called) below the shower drain. Seems to be a common occurrence. I can see pink residue on the outside of the drain pipe below the shower, which is from the antifreeze I recently put in.

There is a small access panel (see pictures), but really no access to the shower. She shower tub sits on top of an insulation and plywood base, then a 2x4 frame, then the original floor with only a small hole for the pipe going down below the original floor. So, no real way to access it from underneath, I don't think, even if I did cut the underbelly liner.

My question is, how do I change out the flange below the shower drain? Do I take the frame off the top of the shower and see if I can pull the shower tub, then redo the support under it so I can get a hand in there to the flange? I cannot fit a hand or tool to where the pipe connects to the drain.

What am I missing here?

As I look at it, I can see insulation below the original floor, so there is a hole there that the P trap goes into a little. I guess I will have to cut the underlining and come up through the bottom. Hoping there is enough room to change the parts needed.

Unless someone has an easier idea?

I think usually the fastners on the underliner can be removed to remove it - but then you need to reinstall all the insulation correctly as you reattach it

I don't see any fasteners for the underliner (but I could be missing them?) my underliner is run between the subfloor and the frame, wall to wall, and wrapped up behind the exterior. I don't see any attachment points. So, I'm assuming I would have to cut and repair (tape).

I guess you probably want to fix it correctly, but that happened to our trailer at the lease. As a quick and dirty fix, laid down with a tube of silicone, coated the whole thing with a thick coat. Sealed it up, and hasn't leaked since, even when I forget to put antifreeze in it. I think the silicone expands and contracts as needed.

I might just do this to get me though the winter. I have a 1 week trip coming up before Christmas to TN, then it probably doesn't get used until March. Thanks for the tip!

I had to cut the varmint barrier on the bottom of my 5th wheel trailer 4 years ago. To repair a plumbing problem. I replaced the insulation then used gorilla brand duct tape to reseal it. Several overlapping layers and it is still sealed up perfectly! Just an FYI Good luck!
