I'm doing my form 1 right now for my SBR. Does Texas have any state permits that I need to upload under "electronic documents" or can I completely skip this step since I'm doing a eForm 1 Individual?

No state docs, but you still have to upload photos of the action you plan to use that shows serial number and manufacturers markings along with a passport style photo of your face in electronic documents no matter if filing as a trust or individual. Then, further along in the approval process, ATF will upload a "cover letter" in electronic documents and also email you. You must print out this cover letter and mail 2 copies of your fingerprint cards along with the cover letter to ATF at the address on the cover letter.

Don't you also have to mail one of those docs to you LEO? I forget which one.

So even though I uploaded my fingerprints electronically using a .EFT file, I still have to send in finger prints cards..?

No, you can do one or the other. I'm just saying that if you don't electronically upload fingerprints with .EFT file, the electronic documents section is where ATF will upload a cover letter that you would send to them with your fingerprint cards, should you use that option. If you do, you have 10 days to mail the cards with the cover letter.

When I did my most recent Form 1 EFile back in Feb, I didn't have to mail anything. The form just asked you to identify either the Chief of Police or County Sheriff. My County Sheriff was already listed in the drop down menu on the EForm, so I just selected his name and that was it.

Other than the law, is there anything stopping me from going ahead and assembling any of the parts, or do I HAVE to wait before a single piece gets assembled?

Legally, you're not supposed to assemble the whole thing until you get tax stamp approval. But, you can assemble the upper and lower together and as long as you don't install the buttstock, it's technically not an SBR yet; it's a pistol.

I know, it's dumb as hell, but we're dealing with the ATF.
