Been going down a rabbit hole trying to find a good 2 seater 24V truck/jeep/buggy for my kid. Preferably a 4x4 but not a deal breaker. He's 4 but very tall for his age and I'm wanting something he won't grow out of in a year. He has a 12V 2 seater from Tractor Supply at his grandparent's house and it's great for now but I'm wanting something at my house.

Peg Perego and Power Wheels - these seem more geared for smaller kids. They are typically smaller and slower and look like he'd run out of leg room as he gets taller.

Big Toys Green Country - these seem awesome but there are so many negative reviews
Big Toys Direct - looks like same product as BTGC and also with many negative reviews

Amazon - tons of options but they all seem to have their fair share of negative reviews

I'm willing to spend the money for something quality but it seems like a crap shoot no matter who you go with.

Not interested in quads or dirt bikes or anything gas powered at this point. Needs to be something he sits inside of.

Thanks for any suggestions.

My only contribution here is that Powerwheels outlasted several other brands in my house ( Amazon sourced ones).

It was handed down and is still going after my kid beat the crap out it. It now sits out in the rain, heat, cold and still runs after 4 years.

We have had lots of versions of the Peg Perego and all worked fine. Batteries never lasted though, but can be replaced. Definitely go with at least a 12volt as the 6 volt ones do not have enough power. 12 volt for a 4 year old should be good for a years before moving up to a 24 volt. I am about to have 2 24volt razor 4 wheelers for sale., one or really both need new batteries.

To piggy back a bit, I am in the next step stage with a 8 and 10 year old. Any good electric options for a 4 wheeler that might not be quite as big as a full size one for an adult? Would rather go with electric to be quieter in the neighborhood. A quick search yielded some really expensive results but there has to be something in between the $300 toy ride ons and a adult version for $6K to $10k, right?

At the very beginning ng of covid a neighbor gave me a power wheel jeep that his kids had outgrown. Mine were 3 1/2 at the time. The battery was fried but I upgraded to a new 18v (12v is stock) and they loved it. I added some lights and a few other doodads. It was fast enough that in high gear I had to jog pretty quick to keep up and they loved taking it down to the bayou/electrical easement at the end of the block and hauling ass.

Eventually one of my ****ty electrical connections broke and it sat for a long while. They've outgrown it now and need to get it out of my garage.

We have two of these at our house that have been abused daily by our boys for the past 3 years. Replaced a couple charging cords and one drive axle that was replaced under warranty.

My 3 year old has had this one for 2 years now. When he was 2 it would lift the front end up on the ground. It is plenty fast for a toddler. It is also nice that I can load small stuff in the wagon and have him drive it back to the shop.

His grandparents have a much more expensive one one with a remote control and now that he is 3 he it is too slow for him. I don't know the exact model of theirs.

IMO they all break. I am pretty happy with the $350 job.

Razor 24v dirt quad 4-wheeler. Bought for my son when he was 4 two years ago. They take a beating - had to replace batteries this past weekend and now it's back running... Razor motorcycle is even better

Neighbor had this. Freaked me completely out when I saw it driving down the sidewalk with their infant in it and I didn't see the parents right away.

Look into converting it to power tool batteries. If the cost of new plus the conversion is too much, look into a used that you convert.

I found my daughter's Best Choice Jeep next to a dumpster at work. The battery was bad and I took a leap that that was the only thing wrong with it. The conversion to Milwaukee M18 cost me maybe $50 not including the batteries and it's run great for almost a year now. I don't know if it runs any faster but the batteries last forever and charge quickly. In the rare event that I kill the batteries and can't wait for them to charge, I can grab one off of my drill, weed eater, etc.

Ride on tractor with trailer. My son loves this. He loves putting toys, sticks, dirt, and his sister in the trailer and hauling ass.

He is 3 (turning 4 in two weeks) and he uses it as much as we'll let him, and it's been that way for the last 6 months since we bought it. It hasn't gotten old and keeps them outside playing.

Whatever you do get a Battery Tender or other Maintainer/Float charger so they are always in good shape.

Thanks everyone for the replies. So far this Realtree 24V seems to be the option that ticks most of the boxes and appears to have pretty decent reviews.

Power wheels and Peg Perego seem too small for my son who is already as tall as most 6 year olds. The one's that do seem to have enough leg room are only 1 seaters and I want him to be able to drive around with the other neighborhood kids. Don't want a quad / 4 wheeler.

We bought these for the kids for Christmas last year and they have held up very well and have been the most engaging of the ride ones we have used so far.

We had one front axle bend and they sent a replacement out that arrived within 3 days no questions asked

We had this one and ran it to the ground. My son would help move 50 pound bags of sand or mulch in the bed, back his rig up and use the lever to dump it in place. Fun stuff.

Have this exact one. He loves it and the parent remote is a must have. Drives it great and he just turned 2, but he is huge for his age. Put another kid in the trailer at his bday party the other day and kept 2 kids occupied for hours.

These are far and away better than anything else listed.

Do not buy the cheap crap on Amazon.
