Anyone have an idea what it would run to get electricity to us. Cabin is about 1.2 miles from the barn that has juice on the same property. It is also about 0.6 miles from a natural gas facility that is not part of the property. I can't find anything helpful on google. This is in Grimes County. Just kicking the tires on this to see if all the lease members might want to pool the money together.

I think it was $9 a foot overhead, $13 underground and $600 for the meter and 200 amp box - I ran some overhead some underground when I did mine a year ago

Sounds like an expensive endeavor at 7000'

Walker county is $7/ft overhead and $25/ft underground. And this assumes a 20' easement is already cleared for them.

Is the price a foot for them digging. Been about 15 years since I did this and trenched myself and layed the conduit for them. Curious

Probable cheaper to move the cabin

In Moore County, TX running just over 1/4 mile overhead was free. Zero cost for meter or construction costs. This was for a new residence and my shop (2 different meters).

Now if I want a transformer and drop for an irrigation well pump or new pivot, it's upwards of 20k (last time I checked).

Quick math says a solar setup + generator would be cheaper.

What would you use the electricity for? Heavy pullers like an AC unit or just lights, charging phones and running small equipment?

$10 per foot overhead isn't a bad estimate

It all depends, I've gotten power for O&G facilities all over the state and you never know what a line extension will cost because the power companies a lot of times give credit for a certain distance.

Getting power from an adjacent property is going to require you to buy an easement from the adjacent land owner. That is if they will sell and they can name their price.

This would be just to run the deer cabin. No heavy freezers or manufacturing stuff. Looking at the responses so far, we will almost assuredly by continuing with generator power.

We did this to my Dad's house about 2,500 feet off the road earlier this year. Aerial until about 300 feet from the house and then underground. It was about $22K for electrical service including pedestal based transformer and meters.

We spent about $3K running a 2" inch water line ourselves with an excavator we already had rented.

Fiber optic internet was originally run in conduit through the waterline ditch, but the pull had too many turns and was not a reliable connection due to the stress the line went through. They ended up hanging a new line on the power poles and boring the last 300 feet. No charge

The natural gas facility is just for generation. It will step up to transmission voltages (large steel structures). You likely cannot tap into it.

Where is the nearest distribution line (small wooden poles). The barn?

You do not want to run low voltage underground for that distance. The voltage drop will be too great.

Battery bank plus Solar could be an option depending on how much you would use this.
