With youth weekend coming up, I'm hoping to put one of my daughters on this fella, unless there's a good opinion on passing him up until next year. But with a whole season ahead of us and the fact that we are low fenced and 200 acres, my guess is to harvest him now if we see him.

This was taken about 30 minutes ago about 45 minutes north of BCS.

Man, it be really hard to pass him but he doesn't look that old to me at all. I may sound crazy but looks 3.5 and 4.5 max

yeah, at 200 acres low fenced, unless you have next to 0 hunting pressure from your neighbors, that boy needs to be shot.

Awesome deer. Hard to say for sure on age but 4 would be absolute minimum. Probably older. My bucks are just now starting to get thick in the neck.

Ill guess 150 but will look even bigger being wide and having some trash that might not score. Fast moving video viewed on a phone makes it tough to judge.

I don't know how many of your neighbors hunt but it would probably be foolish to pass him up.

For your daughter, absolutely take him.

Beautiful buck. Hard to guess age since he never really turned broadside in the video.... but he looks like he has a good belly and his neck looks pretty thick from the front.

I bet your daughter would be tickled to get a chance at him.

As said earlier, I think he's on the younger side but it's hard to tell based off of the quick video and that angle. I'm thinking 4.5.

Same with judging score, but guessing somewhere around 140-150.

As for whether your daughters should take him, only you know the hunting pressure around you. Great deer, though.

After going back and slowing down the video, im dropping my guess to 145. His right side is going to keep him away from 150. But the left side, being a respectable 6, definitely has him above 130s. And he'll feel bigger in person than his score.

At least 4.5, likely older.

4.5. Mid 130s. 28" mass, 42" beams, 18" spread and 45" of points. That's prob the low end.

He won't last a week into the season around here.

Dude. 200ac low fence, a big buck for your daughter? This is a no brainer. Can't wait to see the "after" pics.

He came out this evening at a different feeder. He doesn't look as good from this angle but still nice for my 11-year-old. He didn't come out at either feeder yesterday at all (change in the weather).

He has had a limp since we first began to follow him (couple months ago).

We now need to decide which stand to go to. The wind is predicted tomorrow to be in our favor at both stands (from the feeder towards the stand, and also where he is coming from).

We'll pass on the morning hunt and keep the area clear as he hasn't shown up in the mornings.

Wishing my youngest a steady shot! We practiced dry firing last night, using a bore sight laser as she aimed at these videos playing on the big screen - lol.

I agree with mid to high 130s and 4.5. He's got character but he is held back by main beam length, tine length, and mass. From my experience, bucks tend to mysteriously shrink about 20% once they hit the ground from what they appear to be when standing up.

Agree. I don't think I've ever walked up to a downed one and thought "whoa, this is bigger than I expected". Then again, my hunting is limited to low fences.

I've been lucky enough to do that 4 times. Three with whitetail, and once with an elk.

Each time, it was because I knew it was old enough and big enough, decided it was a shooter, and then I stopped looking at the horns. Just focused on the shot. Love that feeling of surprise!

Every time I spend time dissecting a deer, counting up points or inches, and weighing wether to shoot or not, there is usually shrinkage. Not that it is bad or I regret it, it just is what it is.

Well foo. We went to the other blind this afternoon and he went back to the other. So he lives another week!



And again this morning (Sunday 10/29). Love the head shake!

Dang. Saw the bump and was hoping for dead deer pics. The hunt is what makes it fun though.
