I have read all the other Blackstone Texags threads. Lots of comments about bigger is better (i.e., get the 36"). Just wondering how many 28" owners are out there and what y'all's thoughts are.

Just want it to cook for 2. Stir fry, breakfast, and burgers, mainly. Storage is my main reason for looking at the 28 - will have to be stored on a covered porch. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Have it. Does it's job well. Got a steal of a deal on it on Facebook marketplace. I do stir fry on it and it's plenty big to cook vegetables and protein at the same time.

I have the 28". It's generally fine for cooking for two, but there are times we cook for more people or cook a big batch of whatever it is to have extra and the bigger size would be MUCH better then.

Ultimately I would prefer the bigger one. This one is fairly portable and that is nice.

Portability of my 28 is a key factor. Being able to set it up on any old card/picnic table or my popup camping table is very nice. If cooking for a crowd, just need to be judicious with your space and plan the cooking out.

Had the smaller version thinking it would be fine but space goes pretty fast on the Blackstone. Sold it and got a 36".

Have used the 28 for years. The primary reason we got it was portability/camping. Cooked for our family on it (2 adults + 3 small kiddos). Barely big enough, but did the job. Cooking for more is really hard on the 28.

Just got the 36, and it is amazing. We still keep the portable one in the garage for camping. But leaving the 36" up on the porch is the ticket. If you get one without the side shelves (or just leave them down) the footprint isn't really that big. But, the space is SO useful, even for just 2 people. Being able to cook with different temp zones, or having all ingredients done at once is really nice. For hibachi on the 28, we have to cook each step individually, then combine. Not so with the 36.

If you have space for it, get the 36. Just leave a cover on it, and you won't even notice it in the corner of a patio.

If not, the 28 is fine, but you do have to set it up and take it down every time. And doing things like stir fry, hibachi, breakfasts, or even cheese steaks- it can get tight real quick. For if you are only cooking for 2 (never really wanting to invite another couple over and do the flat top), the 28 will be just fine with some compromises (not being able to always cook all ingredients at once).

Have the 28 at home. Works well for our family of 4 and cookouts for 1-2 other families. Same size as our old grill with added versatility. For us the 36 was took too much space on our patio.

Thanks for the replies everyone. This all has be reconsidering the 36". Especially if TSC put them on sale again for 199 or 249 around Black Friday.

It's like a safe. Go bigger than you think you'll need. I don't have a BS but I have a built-in 36" flattop in my outdoor kitchen. I cook for 10-12 regularly. Perfect size.

Had the 36 but I got tired of it taking up room in the garage. Sold it and bought the 28. It's nice to have the big one but the smaller one is all I need and I like being able to take it hunting. Main question is do you want it on a set of wheels or not.

I have the same (Adventure model I think).

It does just fine when I cook for the family of 4 at home or out at the deer lease. You have to plan a little depending on the meal, but it isn't hard to think ahead. Used it just last night to cook a breakfast dinner of bacon, eggs, boudin scrapple. I did do the hash browns separate this time, but that's because I like them better in a cast iron pan versus the flat top.

I sold my 36" because it was too big. The thing is a PITA to keep clean and seasoned. Would probably be easier somewhere drier, but here on the coast fighting rust is a constant battle.

The 24" on my travel trailer is much easier. I can bring it inside, scrub it in the sink, reoil it and pop it in the oven to set up.

It's "meat". Just call it "meat". Or "steak" or "chicken" or "fish".

Kids: "What's for dinner, Dad?"

Dad: "I'm going to whip up a nice protein on the flat top"

Kids: "Yummm. Sounds delicious."

Now, that is just damned funny. I was really having a bad day today and this made my day. Thanks Htown! BTW, I think I am leaning towards the 28".

I've found the smaller the harder to keep varying temperatures across the griddle. The larger the easier to have hot on one side and just warming on the other. The "zones" are more effective as zone ont he larger size. If you don't need zones then it doesn't matter.

I have 28 for the tailgate. It does have a cooler zone in the middle since it's only 2 burner. But I can still do 12-15 hamburger paddies at a time and probable 5 lbs of fajita meat. I cooked 42 paddies after the Auburn game in about 30 minutes. It would have been faster but I had propane tank that ran out of juice or was low, it needs good, pressure to,heat up

Plus then have the option of folding the legs up

I've got a 36" and to me it cooks smaller than it is because the outside edges don't get as hot as the center. Zero regrets with that size and I'd do it again vs the 28".

I picked up a 28 on sale back in January. I liked it so much I bought another for our beach house. I had no problem cooking for 9 people this summer. Bacon, eggs and sausage most mornings, Sometimes pancakes. Lobster quesadillas were my shining moment (with Remoulade).

Be sure to get one with the hood.

I have one that I use the soft cover and it is still a PITA because rain sometimes puddles on top of the cover, then there is rust again. etc. etc. ..... the hard cover just makes everything much easier to keep clean, dry, and ready to cook.

For those of you looking for a good deal, now is the time. Go to your local Walmart and see if they have any units that are damaged. Find a manager, not one of the yahoos in the Garden Dept., and make a ridiculous offer on it. If you can make a deal, buy it. Go home and register your warranty wait a day or so and give customer service a call. You might have to take pictures but they will replace any damaged parts free.

I use one of these:

https://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-CGG-888-Stainless-22-Inch-Outdoor/dp/B07S6HFQCZ/ref=sr_1_4

I bought it for its compact size, and it works great for me.

There's a bit more to clean up, as the grease drip rail runs around the circumference of the griddle, but I have had no issues using it...

I have the blackstone on the go, perfect for my family of 4. Works great taking on hunting and river trips, table folds up and easily portable

You might want one of these. The regulator on my Blackstone was too wimpy. FULL GAS - COOK AT NUCLEAR TEMPS!!!!

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072Q4S2CW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

Also, you definitely want the hard cover.

I did the same - upgrade the hose and regulator. Works much better than stock.

Game changer. Thanks for the tip. Going to try this out as it's the one issue I have with my 36". Wish it got hotter.

Might want to try this before you buy a new regulator:

I am up on a windy hill so I got these metal baffles that you hang on the side of the griddle. Really helps if it's windy.
