How long do you want to ignore this user?
i recently bought a house where the previous owner used starlink internet. reason being optimum never buried a cable when the house was built and now its big of a PITA to get a cable buried to the house.

trying to transfer service from the previous owner to me and its saying service is unavailable at the address. I'm trying to locate a number to speak with someone and havent had any luck.

has anyone dealt with this before?

any help is appreciated

It is probably a RV/mobile version of the Starlink? That is what I have, as the residential one was not available for me yet at my location. Not sure how to transfer them though...

the transfer was done and appears to be complete. Now i'm just trying to sign up for the residential service and it isnt available, which doesnt make any sense because the previous owners had it. would love to talk to someone on their end but it doesnt look like theres a number

I communicated though their email customer service system. It didn't take too long for them to respond.

All I know when I look up my address on their system, it says it is not available yet. I didn't want to wait, so I decided to get the mobile/rv version. Works great. I am on the wait list to get the residential one. Not sure if that is what you have or not, but would assume it would be an easy thing for them to straighten out for you?

For what they charge for gear and service you don't get to talk to a person except over email? That kinda sucks. At least it's quick but still. I don't like that model at all but it seems that's the way a lot of companies are doing it. If anyone can make it work, I'd figure Elon would.

Nope, there's absolutely no way to contact them other than the form on their website. Then you'll get get a copy/paste reply of the FAQ answer.

yeah, i'm pretty annoyed you cant actually talk to someone to figure out problems. there isnt a FAQ solution to my questions / situation of course.

I think it took a day or 2 for the first response, but once engaged there was some timely back and forth to get it straightened out. Yes, annoying you can't just talk to someone, but starlink is still great for those that need it without other options

Previous owners haven't paid their final bill. This was my holdup! That was 4 years ago and previous owner still has not paid.

once i finally got to talk with someone (via their chat), this was an easy process. got the type of service updated and its up and running. appears to be running pretty strong so far.

Check the Facebook starlink groups for advice. Those people are more helpful than starlink and they are just enthusiast consumers

Is T-Mobile 5G not available in your area? It's faster and cheaper than Starlink from what I can tell, but not sure about availability. I'm genuinely curious if anyone has first hand experience with both as I can't for the life of me understand why more people are not going with T-Mobile 5G instead of Starlink given the cost difference in equipment, ease of installation, and speed. If you live close to a T-Mobile 5G cell tower, I'd opt for trying that for $50/month instead of Starlink.

I have T-Mobile 5G @ home and love it. When I first moved in a few months ago, no one would provide internet here. T-Mobile was the only option, so I signed up.

About 3 weeks ago, a company finally finished installing fiber. Most of the neighborhood opted in and signed up with the fiber company, because of the faster speeds. But, they wanted $200 to hook you up, plus $75/mo for their lowest service, and also some equipment costs I think. I said no thanks. I'm perfectly happy with $50/mo and no other costs. The speeds of T-Mobile 5G are plenty for us to stream live TV/Sports, while surfing the internet on multiple devices and laptops at the same time. I would say it is more than sufficient for the vast majority of users.

I currently have Starlink but previously had tmobile. I'm simply too rural for tmobile. I could only do 4G and during peak hours tmobile was basically unusable. I also tried Verizon and AT&T wireless based internet and I don't get a strong enough signal for consistent speeds even with external roof mounted antennas.

I also have T-Mobile 5G Home Internet. I got it in April to replace my WISP ($102 / month for 7 down, 2 up). We're spitting distance from the Burnet / Blanco county line, ~5 miles east of 281. We've been very happy with the new service. I checked my speed this morning and had 143 down, 17 up (pretty typical). The slowest I've ever seen was ~70 down (very rarely) and the fastest was ~230 (also very rarely). It has been very dependable, equipment is minimal, and the $50/month price is great.

I had signed up for Starlink last year before I knew of the T-Mobile service. They let me know that my equipment was finally ready to go a couple of weeks ago (after 14 months on the wait list). I opted out and my deposit refund is currently in the works. Being in a T-Mobile coverage area and having experienced several months of excellent service, it was an easy decision for me.
