Howdy OB,

Is SportDOG brand still one of the best for training/shock collars? We're brining home a new golden in a few weeks and it's been a long time since I've trained a puppy, so all my "stuff" is long gone.

Thanks for any input/advice or other things to get!

yes. bought one 2 years ago and its worked great for me.

I prefer Garmin with the Track and Train option, but I have pointing dogs, so I run the TT15 collars. SportDog should be fine just doing retrieval work since you will have them in eyesight 99% of the time.

I really like being able to connect my Garmin watch to the Pro 550+ handheld I have and be able to put the handheld in a pocket where it isn't catching on brush when out walking the upland fields.

You're doing some awesome things it sounds like!

It would have been best to share that I'm exclusively looking to use her for dove fetching and tiring out our three boys at home.

We also have the Garmin 550 and love it. Used on both labs for the exact reasons you mentioned. Chocolate lab was good with just the vibrate function or beeps. Black lab definitely gets zapped from time to time.

Garmin Sport Pro for me

Piggy backing here a bit, but does anyone use Halo or another e-fence collar? The Halo has training/shock/beep options as well.
