Howdy,
I'm planning out a form 1 short barrel shotgun. I need to have a Remington 870 cut down and rethreaded for chokes. I contacted vang and they said the wait time was about three months. I will probably still use them for other projects in the future but I was hoping to find something a little quicker than that.
Any help would be appreciated.

You might reach out to Benny Hill at Triangle or https://c-rums.com/

Both specialize is more 3-gun modifications, but they might be able to help you out.

Ask briley if its possible. It may not be possible, as shotguns barrels are a different geometry than rifle barrels.

What would you use a short barrel shotgun for where different chokes would be useful at all? What are you trying to achieve?

I have found that the light mod or the improved mod choke really patterns buckshot the best from a 12 inch SBRd tactical shotgun when used for skeet. It's nails on station 8.

Be sure and yell heads up to the folks downrange when the buckshot starts landing!

100% briley.

My dad order chokes from them, they came, didn't fit correctly and ended up cross threading the barrel.

They bought him a brand new barrel and made it right all for free (even shipping).

I'm attaching a silencerco salvo to it. So it has to be threaded.

Have you looked for a barrel that's whatever length you're looking for online? May not be one out there just a thought.

There are some 14 inch ones out there if you look for them. I'd like to get it to 12.5. Plus some of the estimates I'm getting makes it cheaper to cut and thread the barrel vs buying another.

Briley is the answer to anything related to aftermarket shotgun barrel threading and choke tubes. They do outstanding work. The best in the biz.

Edit: my spell check changed "Briley" to "brisket." It obviously knows some profound wisdom: brisket is indeed the answer!

Quite a while ago i sent steve rose a shotgun barrel to be trimmed and threaded for chokes. Turned out great and he was quick. Looks like he's still in business https://roseactionsports.com/

Thank you all for the recommendations. Several have already returned my emails. It's good to have some options and some back up plans.

Editing as I see this was posted above already.

I have used a really good guy in Dallas for rifles (Class 3 Machining). He doesn't do shotguns, but recc'd Rose Action Sports Gunsmithing which is KY I believe

Carlson will likely be cheaper and faster than Briley, and do just as good a job.

Briley is great because they are in Houston, but they are usually significantly more expensive and have a pretty good lead time on their work.

Great to know. I'll contact them as well. Thank!
