Any of you guys renewed your electric plan recently and if so what rate were you able to get? I know it varies by location. I'm in Arlington.

14 cents per kWH with free nights starting at 8pm with TXU. I have an EV so the free nights is a big value add.

Just go this web site https://www.powertochoose.org/ This offers all the competition rates for your zip code.

Before you shop it is good to review the last twelve months of your usage. I doubt you can get daily numbers but should get monthly summaries. Your current provider should provide that data. Once you see how much you use monthly you can shop based on your usage. They also have customized pricing if you have a smart meter. Most homes have them but check.

For example we are on a 3 year contract with free usage from Friday evening to Sunday midnight. So we do all our washing and drying of clothes on weekends. It used to be more important when we had three kids in the house but now not so much and I probably switch to nights free next time to crank down the AC more at night.

Oh and all the advertised rates for heavy use. Dig down to see cost for your usage range.

My basic rate is .06152 per kWh plus the TDU delivery charge. I'm in Round Rock.

This was my first month's bill (actually only 18 days) on my new plan but I used 1218 kWh and the total was $131.07 after fees and taxes.

My previous plan was a heck of a deal at .038731 per kWh plus TDU and my bill for 1433 kWh was a whopping 119.35 with fees and taxes.

I'm in Austin and don't get a choice other than Austin Energy. How often do you find it necessary to change and why would you leave the better deal you had before?

Because contracts expire and you have to renew. Then you are paying market rates. Rates are up

Like SteveBott stated, my previous plan expired.

So far since I moved up here I had my first plan for 1 year that was at a decent rate. It was expiring and everything was jacked up and Thigbe got me on that sub 4 cent rate for 3 months. They then signed me up for the deal I am currently on and I think I have it for 13 months.
