Our COOP isn't that cheap.

Problem is that it's in Inez, which isn't exactly convenient to most folks.

Smoking good price though, wish that was the going rate everywhere.

Yes, that is true. Thought it might pay off for guys heading to the valley, or Victoria area guys.

Don't know how long that price will last.

Haven't seen that price in a long time. Must be needing to clear out some space.

wow that is cheap. Still 14.49/50lbs today at Tractor Supply. I usually buy mine at a feed store in Hico and I think it was still 11.50 there last time I bought a couple months ago.

That is primarily a food product company that may not be able to use their corn for food products so they are selling cheap for wildlife to cut their losses - don't know if that is the case but you should ask.

Check what the aflatoxin levels are in the corn - that may be why it is cheap - human and livestock levels should not exceed 20 ppb, wildlife is recommended not to exceed 50 pplb. Fawns are more susceptible to damage.

This. It's crazy cheap for a reason. I'd be asking for analysis too.

Corn futures are down roughly 10% YOY. It's also looking like basis isn't going to be too strong this year for new crop.

Here are the levels of Aflatoxin allowed according to the Office of The Texas State Chemist,

20 ppb- Lactating Dairy Cows, Immature animals, humans.

50 ppb- Wildlife

100 ppb- Breeding animals

200 ppb- Finishing Swine

300 ppb- Cattle for slaughter

500 ppb- Must be destroyed

I also would find it very unlikely that they are selling it for cheap because of high aflo. It would be against the law to sell it as deer corn at high levels.

Yep, September board is in the mid $5.00 range, but has been as low as $4.80-ish in the last month, plus the basis down there is horrendously under, have heard of some -1.25 and worse numbers. So if they bought at the right time they might only be into the corn for low $4s per bushel before cleaning and sacking.

That would be my thought as well, looking at their other products they sell, it's likely they reject any trucks that are high aflo coming in before they dump. Almost everybody tests the load before it's dumped so seems unlikely they'd all of a sudden be caught with a quality they cant move and need to discount.

As somebody who sells corn to the largest cattle feeders in the world and the largest corn flour miller in the world. The corn that is going to the feedlots is the same corn that is going to the miller.

There are really only two things the corn miller cares about, Aflo/Fumo and if there are soybeans in the corn. Other than those two things, they are a lot less picky about their corn than most of the feedlots.

$9.50 per 50 lb. bag at Brown's Feed Store in Lampasas. Corn is not real "clean" typically if that's important to you.

Edited - current price

Family just purchased a property, so this is our first year having to buy corn for our own feeders. How do you tell if the corn is "clean?"

Should smell like orange Fabuloso. Normally just smell around the pull tab at the top of the bag.

I stopped at Davis Feed Mill in Hico the other day and got a few bags of corn and a few bags of protein. Didn't ask the price up front so after I paid I asked how much their corn was... $14.50 per 50lb bag.

Hopefully someone in the Granbury, Hico, Hamilton area will start having it cheap soon.

I hope prices are dropping now that corn is being harvested and stacked for deer season. It was $11.99/bag at Mummes in Hondo last weekend of July…

Gross… I remember complaining when protein went from $9.50/bag to $11-12/bag. My feed bill has increased significantly over the last couple of years
