Going down to Crystal beach for first time this weekend. Does anyone know good places to purchase fresh shrimp and seafood to cook?

Also, about how long should you expect to wait for a table at Stingeree on a Friday/Saturday?

Can't answer your question about where to purchase fresh seafood at Crystal Beach but we were there a couple of weeks ago and we waited almost two hours for a table at Stingaree's and that was on a Wednesday night. Can't imagine what a Friday/Saturday will be.

Katie's on Galveston is aggie owned, and always quality. It's next to the cruise terminal.

JB's for seafood. Pass on Stingaree. Most of us that live here dont go there. Aggie owned or not, waiting 1 or 2 hours for mediocre to average overpriced meal, isnt worth it. Tia Juanitas, Jose's, and Nauti Beaver are all better by a long way. May have a wait, but not an hour or two.

Forgot about Fins at the new Margaritaville resort. Really good. Pricey but cool place. Also, beach is a mess. Everybody getting stuck in the super soft, super thick sand. 4 wheel drive helps a little, but even a few jeeps were stuck and people were pushing golf carts trying to get thru it. Wont get better until we get a few days and several inches of rain, and there's none in sight.

Used to go to Stingaree a lot, but haven't in years. Never eaten a meal worth a couple hours of my time waiting!

Not waiting more than 30 minutes anywhere.

I would get it on the way. Recent venture from the peninsula to the island was brutal in wait time for the ferry crossing. Recently bought at Rosie's in Kemah but unless it is somewhat on the way, it is likely not worth it for you.

Avoid Katie's like the plague. Like was previously posted the owner is a DICK and thinks he owns the gulf. Better and cheaper places.

The owner is the primary supplier of red snapper to most seafood restaurants and markets. Dude actively lobbies against recreational red snapper fishing to keep the public from catching 'his fish'. He allegedly commissioned some dubious studies to support his position and uses them to keep recreational anglers to ridiculously low limits and hopefully no fishing at all. Despite 1000 years of wild game being a public good, these have now become his and he doesn't want you taking his fish. And, he is a dick, allegedly.

Or at least the red snapper in it.

And he's not an Ag either (as a previous poster stated).

Does JB's have Red Snapper?

They did last week. Anybody selling fresh gulf shrimp is selling freshly thawed. Gulf is closed until 7/15 here. I didnt google La.,Ms. or Ala. rules or schedules. JB'S boats have flash freezers on them.

Can attest. I ran over my dad while everybody was pushing our golf cart with me driving on Monday

And yeah we stopped going to stingaree once people figured out bolivar existed about 5 years ago. Also the waitresses give great service to old *******s and not so great to women and children. We started going to Steve's landing but the new owners don't know how to run a restaurant so they closed down. Now we just run up to Jose's or hardheads since they're on our street. We will need to try Fins since it's across the highway. We got kicked out of margaritaville streets when we were driving around in golf cart to check it out so that kinda turned us off on it.
