Well, singing is what people call it.

Speaking of….. the Merlin app from the folks at Cornell is amazing if you haven't tried it.

Take aways

1. That's legit 18 hours of birds singing, thought forgot sure it would be something different, but it's exactly what the title says. Good job on the title op

2. A common coocoo sounds like a coocoo clock, who knew?

I was in the Army and stationed in Germany. The first time we went out on field exercises I legit thought we had set up right by someone's house and I could hear their clock. I went looking and was baffled until I saw & heard the bird. It was a cool experience for this small town country boy.

That app is awesome! I was reading this thread, and heard a bird singing outside my office window. I download the app, hit record.....Boom! Northern Cardinal.

I lead birding tours occasionally and the Merlin App is good but not perfect. It will mis-identify some vireo species and on more than one occasion was, in the Junction area, identifying a Black-crested Titmouse call as a Red-breasted Nuthatch. But, it is a quick and easy way to id a lot of birds if you don't want to learn them by ear.
