so I tried search but couldn't find this exactly. I did find the thread on costa warranty and that's why I'm here.
I have the Jose frames with amber mirror lenses. They are old and the rubber on ear pieces is falling off and Costa is going to warranty them (easy process so far). BUUUUUUT they don't have the same lenses so they are offering me options amongst other choices to replace

I can get same Jose frame (or maybe switch to Blackfin frames similiar to my size) but they have blue mirror or green mirror only.

which lens color should I get?

mostly fish lakes or inshore for trout and reds

I'm leaning towards green mirror

I guess kind of a bonus is I have plastic lenses now but option to get glass as part of warranty. Although glass is heavier which I'm not sure how that would feel wearing for all day on water.

I have blue glass lenses. A little heavier than the plastic but you get used to them

I have the 580p blue mirrors and they're great on bright days. I'd probably go green mirror for better visibility on less bright days.

I had a pair replaced about a year ago under warranty. FYI, and just my opinion, I don't think the lense quality is the same since Luxotica bought out Costa. My old glasses had some gradient to them which is missing from these and they seem to scratch a lot easier then before.

Of those options, green for freshwater and inshore and blue for offshore is what Costa recommends. So, I'd go with green mirror, though you won't go wrong either way. I've had both and liked both.

Green mirror for inshore. That's the color that the sight-casting guides recommend. Makes the reds really stand out

Who was it a number of years ago that took this same thread subject and just absolutely berated people for the wrong color? And was completely serious about it….

MJ sucks. They're way down the list of quality optics for fishing. Trip actually fishes and doesn't just act like they fish which is the MJ demographic.

Although I do have a couple pair of Maui Jim that I got from charity golf tournaments.... Fittingly enough

Green is also supposed to be better for snow and low light conditions.

I've had two pairs of green mirror 580g lenses over the past 10 years and would highly recommend them. I don't fish offshore, but they've been with me flyfishing anywhere from Ambergris Caye to Platoro.

Green mirror lenses are amber lenses with a green mirror finish.

Blue mirror lenses are Grey lenses with a blue mrror finish.

I have both in 580G. Blue is my preference for everyday and driving. Green is superior for bay fishing, which is the only time I truly "need" then.

I am a full time guide.

Amber lens with Green mirror for shallow water.
Blue mirror for offshore.

Look into the Smiths or Redtail Republic for superior product. Costas product and customer service have included the drain lower and lower for a decade.

Green for reds etc.....blue for offshore. NW80 would say vermillion for reds. "That's another name for brown Doc!"

I believe he would have been wearing green mirror today....

Blue for very clear water. Green for everything else. The glass lens costas are as good or better than anything on the market and the warranty is still solid. MJ does make offshore specs, but they are more expensive. I prefer the MJ glass lenses for casual use/prescription. Fishing or hunting I'll stick with costas.

Costa warranty told me the same thing when I sent mine back for service. I made my selection from their choices and ended up getting the exact same pair as I sent in anyways.
