We've got one that I picked up before the craze several years ago. Nothing special, just an 8' tank with a sand filter setup that a friend gave me. I'm into it around $500 including the cantilever umbrella I bolted to the slab. Have little kids, and they love it and use the hell out of it. I jump in on occasion to cool off after a workout or after working in the yard. I'd rather have an in-ground, but that's not meant to be at our current place.

We built one and it's awesome. We put it under a few pecan trees, so it never gets direct sunlight which means it also never warms up. Even in the summer it's sooo cold. The problem is that we get so much tree debris in it. We ended up covering it this year. Keeps the crap out, but the pigs love pulling it off.

I plumbed it to our well house. I have a small sand filter and pump that's intended for an above ground pool. Moves a lot of water for a pool this size. The biggest challenge is that I don't have a great option for a skimmer. They make floating ones for above ground pools, but it's not a great option for this. Covering has made that less necessary.

I also plumbed a hose bib to the pool for easy topping up when the water level drops.

Got one a few years ago so my lab would have a place to cool off. Nieces and nephews love it, I use it all the time.

Mines setup in the fence corner with an overhanging tree. Keeps it good and cool in the summer. I have a rectangle sun sail that's attached to the fence and then to the tree above which keeps out 95% of the leaves.

You can class it up by putting a liner in and wrapping it in that bamboo walkway material if you are so inclined.
