The one you can shoot the best. That being said, I like a full size or something similar to a G17-19 that's accurate and has high round capacity.

Your car is not a holster.

I had a handgun stolen out of my vehicle. That handgun was later used in a crime against someone I care about.

Do not leave a firearm in your vehicle on a regular basis on purpose. Do not on purpose plan to have a holster for regular carry/storage in your vehicle.

Interesting... Wholesale price starts at $35, but they are on sale for $30!

Not to thread hijack, but has anyone considered a center console safe for their vehicle?

I want to start carrying more but my work has a strict policy of no weapons in the office (but they can be left in ones vehicle).

I'm thinking about getting something like this. Just curious if anyone has experience with this type of thing since most of the responses here seem to be against leaving a gun in one's vehicle.

Up until a few posts ago, I assumed everyone was locking theirs in a console vault or equivalent…

Yes - I have had one I last two trucks and lock mine in there regularly. I don't leave guns in there all the time but when I am carrying and cannot enter somewhere with gun (refinery, Astros game, airport, etc.) I lock it up.

I would highly encourage anyone that plans to carry a gun with them in a vehicle to do the same… and don't leave your gun in vehicle overnight. That seems to be when most are stolen.

And I ran a console vault in my 14 F150 but I went with the Keyed version. I've heard it is much more secure than the combo lock version.

Pretty sure that if you stop a bad guy at your office with your unauthorized handgun, you'll be more a hero than unemployed.

I don't disagree with you there. Still, since I work for a military contractor I'm not going to take a chance getting caught with a gun on campus lol. Just my luck I'd be the one getting shot by security....

I have a safe in my truck and in my wife's vehicle. I like the security of it, but, even with the keypad lock, it's not convenient to get to if/when it's really needed. That's why I'm interested in something like linked above.

That being said, I have a CHL, but have never actually carried on my person, so if I had something like the above, I'd still have to transition from the holster to the safe when I exit my truck. I feel like the process of moving the gun to my console vault will eventually be observed by someone and they will target my vehicle while I'm away from it.

So the result would end up the same, I'd just be leaving it in my safe all the time.

Find a comfortable holster and just carry on you when you're driving. If you get a good holster it won't bother you. Only time I take mine off is when I'm driving for like 5-6hrs or longer. Lock in the safe when you have to.
