Is a grass consultant a thing? I cant figure out why my Zoysia is getting dried out in certain areas. I fertilize, top dress, aerate, etc. seems like I'm doing all the things. Not sure why it's struggling so bad.

Can you post some pictures of it? Is it getting watered properly? Are the sprinklers that water it operating correctly?

I'm in Austin and it certainly took a beating with the heat and drought last summer. However, as much of the yard is greening up and recovering there are areas that, even with the rainy conditions occurring now, those areas still look like they need water. Maybe insects or some kind of fungus? Not sure. That zoysia used to really tolerate the heat and looked good with weekly deep watering….but not so much over this last year. I can grab a few pics tomorrow.

Had a Palisades Zoysia yard at a house we owned and lived in for 11 years in Lakeway. Previous owner said to water it moderately and aerate it once a year. Said not to fertilize it. So we followed his advice and it was spectacular for the entire 11 years. Moved out May of 2021. My 2 cents.

Maybe I'll skip the fertilizer this year. Probably would be worth sending in a soil sample. I've never done that.

I'm on north side of San Antonio with a lot of limestone and suffer some kind of fungus on my zoysia every summer when my yard gets stressed. I mention the limestone because that seems to be a common factor. Instead of turning the normal brown, it gets a real golden color. Fungicide will control it, but it's best to be proactive and treat before it really sets in.

I've had this happen to my Zoysia in Austin. I've used the Scott's DiseaseEX and another fungicide granule. Both seemed to help keep it under control.
