Looking around for a used 40-50 hp outboard. 4 stroke and nothing older than 2010 that still runs well. Any ideas on where to look? Finding them online has been difficult.

Call Tran Sport in Palacios. They seem to always have used motors lying around.

Any good used engine of late model is hard to find right now due to high demand in the market. They most always become available only during a repower situation so dealers typically have a waiting list on good low time engines and they just typically don't make it to market for sale.
I can offer to reach out to some of my dealers and industry contacts to see if I can perhaps locate one. It would be either a Mercury or Yamaha most likely.
You might reach out to some of the customer service departments of some aluminum boat manufacturers that OEM their boats with engines. Sometimes they might have a warranty replacement boat that has a low time engine on it they will sell.
I'll warn you ahead of time that their dealers usually scarf those up as soon as they get them but you might get lucky.

I have a 2008 Yamaha 25hp 2 stroke if anyone is interested. Motor probably has a total of 10 hours on it. I'll throw in a 1972 1436 Johnnie w/ trailer if someone buys the motor.

Try PowerStoc Outboards on Facebook. They are always trying to sell used or rebuilt outboards. Not sure if they have anything in your size but it wouldn't hurt to look.
