I'm a big gun guy, love shooting competitions and the like, but the only problem is none of my friends are super into it. Just looking for a group of fellow Ags to go train with on the weekend. Not looking to pay for classes as I have already taken some, just some dudes to practice on the flat range with on the weekends occasionally.

You're welcome. There is a competition that gets posted for the Brazos Valley. I typically shoot USPSA outside of Austin in Manor. Bender will have input for competitions around the Temple Area.

Usually shoot at brushwood creek. Been up in NH this semester for an internship, taken rifle and pistol classes at Sig Sauer Academy.

Agreed, they even specify that you cant draw from a holster there…

There is arrowhead up towards Hearne, not sure if they are still around.

Last time I was there it seemed like you could do whatever you want, which could be a safety risk. The place looked like a junkyard though.

Arrowhead is still open. Phil is good people, and you definitely can't do anything you want…he'll pay you a quick visit.

You can, however, draw from holster, rapid fire in bursts <5 rounds, move and shoot. I normally use the open bay, bring my own stands, some cones to set up distances and courses, etc. $10 for as long as you want to stay.

As mentioned though, it's is rough shape.

Brushwood used to be called Down Range, and something else before that IIRC. Only have been out there twice a few years ago.

Never been to arrowhead, I'd be down

CCC in Milican, matches almost every weekend and 10 pistol bays where you can set up any course of fire you can dream up

Agreed. Also the keeping firearms unloaded unless firing, rule.

If you are going to train people to carry, you have to train them to carry a loaded gun.

Look up the Brazosland Pistoleros on Facebook. They have matches I think every other weekend at CCC or a range off of 21 E.

Tiger Valley in Mart has fun 2 gun matches every month or two. At least, they were. It's been a year or two since I've made one.

Integrity Firearms has "small group training" every now and then at CCC.

I'd be down for a weekend shoot in the BCS area. I'm still pretty Basic, I've shot a pistoleros match and a run and gun match.

I think it would be fun to set up something like the monthly drills that I have seen posted on here. Something that requires drawing, movement, engaging multiple targets, reloading, maybe atypical shooting positions. Maybe have someone load a snap cap in the magazine to work on malfunctions.

If one of these places would rent out a bay I'd be more than happy to chip in rental, bring some targets, or contribute however.

I'd be happy to try and coordinate something if we have a lot of interest.

Hell yeah, I get back into cstat in may. Lets figure out some drills and such to do at arrowhead.

Also, I am signed up for the monthly Texas Kalashnikov match on practiscore. Plan on signing up for a pistol match as well.
