Adopted a 5-6 month old puppy that I believe would benefit from obedience training. Looking for recommendation in NW Houston; located in Magnolia but willing to venture a short ways.

He seems to be picking up on commands, but he's going to be big - already 70lbs - and I feel as though I need the reinforcement help and he needs the structure.

I took my GSP to Horizon Kennels in Sealy. She did 1 month of obedience and then 2 months of bird training. He does both so you can just do obedience only.

Dobbin Dog Ranch

This is not far from you. We sent our 5 month old Bullmastiff, Winston, for off leash training (e-collar) with Mike. The dog was barely walkable on a leash before he went, and now I walk him all over the place without a leash. Take him to the park in the neighborhood and he will walk right beside me, comes back when called, and ignores distractions. It took ~2.5 weeks for the training, but this can vary from 2-4 weeks depending on the age and temperament of the dog.

The facility is spotless, and the whole place is well run and cared for. Highly recommended. I would at least give Mike a call, or better yet drive over there and see the place.

Here's Winston after training, and then spending a weekend in the country at 9 months old.

Nevermind, I see it listed on their website...

$500 per week for the training plus the boarding fees. It ended up around $1000/wk.

I would guess most dogs are closer to two weeks, but Mike will give you a pretty accurate estimate.

We did it with the selfish reason of getting better control of a five month, 120 lbs dog. I realize now that it's a livelong gift for the dog.
